Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
And there is already a spartan named John. Spartans aren't tied to the identity given to them at birth, so they could change his first name to whatever they wanted to.

But seriously...how the fuck does John Forge get out of there when the Spirit of Fire doesn't even make it back in time?

Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
I can't pretend to know how. Obviously no explanation could be made that makes sense, but I've seen people brought back from even more impossible situations before. Perhaps it has to do with the object he was destroying being an FTL drive, or that the planet apparently was slipspace crazy?
Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
I suppose him being caught in the explosion of a Slipspace drive could have...strange effects. However, how this leads to him becoming a SPARTAN-II...
Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
Wasn't there a mention somewhere about a second batch of S-IIs? He could have been thrown in with them.

Or that for some reason, the Arbiter was the only Elite to use a real energy sword (rather than a metal one) except when he conveniently needs another sword?
Stranger things have happened my friend. Entire armies defeated by a single oppeant with little more than a few scrathes on them. Anyway, at this point in time, I just (somewhat) except the strangeness and go with the flow. Much more enjoyable.

Anime, most cartoons/tv shows, games. The proof is there. But if you want specific examples, off the top of my head, I can think of Samuri Jack (don't know why this is the first one in my head). Halo in general. You are basically a one man fighting force, and do most things on your own. I also want to say Gundam, as in the ones I've seen, one gundam wipes outs entire armies. It's been awhile since I've seen them, so I'm not sure if it's changed since I last saw it. Samuri/ninja movies. One ninja can take on a hundred of them and come out fine. But one on one is a different story...
Anyway, I'll sure there are more examples, this is the first thing in my head at almost 12 at night.

Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
In Halo you face small, tactical sized forces. Many times, you have allies.
I don't see how you could use anime as an example to show how an anime isn't ridiculous.

Most indicators say that a Class II never existed. Not to mention that Spartans are chosen as children and trained their whole life.

The premise is "You are the last hope" and basically you do it on your own is what I was going for.
I wasn't try to prove anime wasn't ridiculous, I was just stating how stranger things have happened in anime.

But as Dud said, you may be the last hope, but you don't single handedly take on an entire army all at once and come out unscathed.

Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
The Wraiths are more of my concern. I mean, one minute they're blasting away, and then they just vanish. What did he do, will them out of existence!?

I think the general idea that this forum holds is that anime has no place in Halo, and while perhaps it doesn't look so bad in comparison to other animes, when put next to Halo it looks like, well, shit.

Nope.
All I see it as another anime. I don't regard the halo in the name.

If you look at it that way, they could do anything and it wouldn't be bad! Though, even then, I would still dislike The Duel simply because it was so hard on my eyes.

Not really. If it's just aweful in general, then I won't see it as good. I just see it as another anime in my book. Makes it more enjoyable to watch.
True, it did have some odd art styles.
