1) This couldn't be put in the other thread?
2) New weapons... for a game in an older setting... WHAT THE FUCK
3) The falcon? Looks like a larger version of the hornet made for transport, did pelicans become obselete?

WHy do that? It not like it even matters. And if I posted them in another thread that has a lot of pages. Then you would have to go page surfing to see them. So this is easier.

Re: Halo: Reach
Oh quiet you lot...
I like the idea of the assassinations and potential for sneaking through a mission. Other than that I probably wont buy it. ODST showed me I was already done with Halo.

Well what do you expect them to do? Make a game with all the same shit and upped graphics, and new story? They did that with ODST and I think we can all agree that it didn't meet expectations. Not to mention Halo is the only game I ever hear people bitching about because they changed something slightly in it.
Point is:
1.Do the same ol' shit and people get bored
2.Change things up alittle bit for the better and it can give a whole new respect to things in a game

Hey, what ever happened to the M6D?
One's an Osprey, the other's a Blackhawk. Really useful for the orbital insertions and long distance travel shown in the other games, but for work that's nowhere near the rear lines...Gauz wrote:3) The falcon? Re: Halo: Reach
heres your excuse for the falcon
pelicans i have noticed are prone to being giant flying missile targets. whether its echo 419 getting shot down just when you actually need pickup
or the countless downed pelicans we encounter throughout levels every halo game. They are flying targets.
Something with a lower profile and maybe more cost effective (propellers are cheaper than jets) would suit the spartans better.

except that Reach takes place simultaneously with Halo CE.... or damned close to Simultaneously...
the weapons should be the same... the AR should be the MA5B
new grunts look retarded... as do the new jackel ... skirmisher.. .things...
if they say they are a new species... one that ONLY showed up on reach.... I am going to fly to Bungie and slap all of their writers in the face

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU-
You lot are whingier than the fucking Half-Life 2 bunch. Who gives a fuck about canon? Just play the god damn game and have fun, instead of having a hissy fit about the differences in assault rifles.

your right
I should be excited for Halo 4: Captain Funnelcake Attacks Pirate Island
story, characters, and setting don't matter at all as long as its shiny, and contains shooting

Re: Halo: Reach
I think it looks pretty cool overall.
the differences in guns and stuff can't really be explained by "PoA was on specialized mission" like the lack of Hornets can.
But personally, I think that small issues like guns aren't really as important as the plot issues that are going to come up (believe me, there will be something)

Of course! I mean, why should we be concerned about the plot making sense in a digital media used to tell interactive stories? I mean, what do plot and stories have to do with each other? Nothing!
tldr: Fuck you, Ziggy.
Re: Halo: Reach
Oh man the hostility is rising. Chill pills all around.
Ziggy, you gotta understand that Story/plot/cannon etc is one of the main reasons why Halo is so popular with us and it's fans.
Most of the time, great story and great gameplay don't always come hand in hand in a game. A lot of it is you get a game, and it either has great gameplay and not so good story or vice-versa. But then when you get a game like Halo (and others), then you got yourself a game worth playing and appreciating for years to come.

Re: Halo: Reach
And then a publisher realizes that the game is so popular that anyone will buy it, and ruins it. Thank God Valve is still independent...

Gameplay is a lot more important than silly Canon.
I would much prefer to pay full retail price for a game with great gameplay, then a Game with a great storyline.

Re: Halo: Reach
The point that I forgot to make was that such trivial canon, like the difference in assault rifles, is really really really fucking pointless and you shouldn't be complaining about it. Of course if there was a massive void in the plot that made no sense, then you've got every right to cause a stir, but honestly, a fucking assualt rifle? Who gives a shit? In the end you're having a blast killing aliens, and the main story is intact, so who cares?
And cheers Rot, that made me laugh.

Re: Halo: Reach
Yes that's my thoughts exactly Ziggy. I guess I should've mentioned that too when I posted.
Small minor things such as that are not a big deal. But just as you said. The big things are what matter. And of course, that's with any game.

Re: Halo: Reach
Small details are what fuels the canon, they should be of the utmost concern to the writer. These small details make the setting believable and interesting. When the new material contradicts and disregards the established canon, the setting loses it's integrity and the atmosphere collapses. The universe becomes less believable and, at least to me, the game therefore loses a large portion of it's appeal.
@ OP
While not bad, the art is...strange. I can easily put myself in the mindset that Bungie should have stuck with the material provided in Halo CE, but I have nothing against them trying something new. Hell, if anything, that is what this article showed Reach lacked.
While reading I couldn't help but strongly oppose almost everything Bungie said relating to the characters.(Except, of course, that I was right and they are in fact Spartan Threes) They gave the characters in ODST extreme personalities, which annoyed the fuck out of me because it made the game cheesy, cliche, and ended up making them far less believable or "real" than they could have been. I see now that Reach is following this formula, a direction that I disapprove of.
I can't say I'm not disappointed. I was expecting something new, something fresh for Halo that went beyond plot and setting. However, Halo 3 was an old, working idea that was refined and solidified. I have been playing the game for over 2 years straight now, without losing interest in it. If they repeat this in Reach, while nailing the campaign MUCH better than they did in Halo 3, then I will stick with the series at least until the next release.
