When we asked if you were blind and/or blinded by The Duel, that was a serious question.

So you weren't serious when you said you like Halo Wars, or the new anime perhaps?

There were some parts that were meh, while others had potential, i'll acknowledge that, but it just doesn't catch my eye.

Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
The first and third, I can understand liking, but the art style alone of The Duel was enough to make my eyes bleed. Not to mention they gave Elites normal mouths, and then there was the whole Wild Arbiter uses Surf! thing...

The art style was hard on the eyes, and the mandabals, and the hair were out of place. But other than that, it was alright.

Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
So you didn't find it the least bit...strange that a single Elite with a sword defeated an entire Covenant army, all equipped with guns, including a handful of Wraiths and giant Lekgolo colonies? Or that for some reason, the Arbiter was the only Elite to use a real energy sword (rather than a metal one) except when he conveniently needs another sword?
Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
Eh, Rot?
The "Metal Sword" thing is actually lazy animation. They didn't want bright blue blades detracting from the already-hard-to-distinguish graphics.
The Duel had potential, had it been given a total of thirty minutes and some decent animators.
Babysitter isn't worth saving, "The Package" is beyond redemption. I see no redeeming (at the risk of using two similar words so closely together) qualities about it whatsoever.

And another thing.
At Pegasi Delta, the S-III's split up, with one group attacking seven (!) Covenant Cruisers in orbit. The Lone Wolf could have come from that group, and gotten away independently from Tom and Lucy.
After that, who knows? Ackerson might have farmed the Lone Wolf out to other projects, like headhunting.

Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
In GoO it says, "Colonel Ackerson had wanted Tom for his own private operations..." If there had been other survivors, Ackerson could have either gotten to them first or pulled them aside before the mission began. Remember that Tom had noticed 9 spartans missing on the roster as soon as it had begun.
Also Rasq, there was no mention about the S-IIIs splitting up to attack the cruisers. In fact, they did not know the cruisers were there until they started ferrying troops planetside.
EDIT:After watching the Reach trailer again I noticed that the spartan was a lieutenant. The only other spartan we know of to reach this rank was Kurt, and that was because he needed to run the show at Onyx. Therefore these 9 spartans which Ackerson obtained would probably be in some type of authoritative position, although that theory isn't well supported by the fact that the character is called lone wolf. I doubt that Bungie would give him such a high rank without a reason, though.
Perhaps the "lone wolf stuff" that Carter mentioned didn't have to do so much with the nature of the work that he had been doing under Ackerson as it did with his attitude as a candidate. Allow me to explain. Ackerson would not have selected an awkward number of 9 spartans at random, he would have looked for any small number of spartans who's records matched a certain criteria. Perhaps he was looking for "lone wolfs" in order to avoid them being missed or having trouble being separated from the rest of the group. His assignment(s) could have been totally unrelated to his selection criteria, and therefore "lone wolf" could have ended up in a leadership position. This could explain why he is both a lieutenant and a lone wolf.
On a completely unrelated note, Carter is Forge.
I wish I could post brief clips of the voices, but they obviously have the same voice actor. It is forge.

Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
I noticed that too, and one of them might be Buck.
Forge was ok, one of the few semi good parts of Halo Wars, but of course they give him obscure ass lines:
"Well well, open sesame!"
"And for the record, I would have kicked your ass the first time in the lady had not interrupted us!"
And Cutter:
"We may have taken back Harvest, but I don't think the Covenant appreciate that, yet."

Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
There's several ways they could explain this. I would like to point out that we DID NOT (much to my disapproval) see Forge die in Halo Wars. If Bungie adhered to the SHITTY character that ES created for Forge, being made into a spartan sounds like something that fits right into Forge's overly "badass" record.
Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
Well we do know Buck was on Reach during the battle.
So it's possible.

.... Doodoo those 9 "missing" S-III's died during reentry from slip space, or from hitting the ground, burning alive in orbit, and getting shot as their HEV opened up. None of them were missing or pulled out of action, they were all just dead.

No, Tom just noticed they weren't on the roster. He decided they must have died in said ways, no where did it say that they actually did.Death no more wrote:.... Exactly.
Ackerson easily could have scooped on up if he had a mind to.

Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
Im sure in the book that it says their vital signs went offline, something along those lines. It may be a intricate plan on Ackerson's part but I doubt that. Methods such as those are unnecessary, and he would've sent them on a low risk mission not a mission deep out of UNSC territory surrounded by covenant troops. I highly doubt he would do something like that.Dud Doodoo wrote:No, Tom just noticed they weren't on the roster. Re: Halo Reach: on Spike, NOW!
"Additional dots appeared on his heads-up screen a dozen, two dozen, and then hundreds. The rest of Beta Company was online. Two hundred ninety-one of them. Nine hadn't made it, either dead on reentry, killed from the impact or by Covenant forces before they could get out of the pods."
As I said, it says no such thing. When he says nine hadn't made it he means that nine dots were missing. I would hardly consider that an intricate plan on Ackerson's part, he just removed nine spartans from the group before they were deployed. Even if it was somehow an intricate plan, he had gone through far more trouble to get Kurt.
I don't understand what you are saying about sending them on a high risk mission, you didn't make yourself clear. It is possible, though hard to conceive I am sure, to proof read your writing before you post. Perhaps you should put it into practice.
