I watched the campaign prologue cinematic and the spartan ops intro, and they do lose points for being pre-rendered, but if those are the only two pre-rendered I'll be fine with but the content of both just felt right.

I don't mind the helmets at all, they're mainly there for customization purposes anyway, so you should expect off the wall designs that can appeal to a variety of players. :-)

If this was any previous game, I'd agree, but as they're trying to add a loose narrative to multiplayer now, in Spartan Ops and standard mutliplayer, it makes kinda less sense that these helmets are being tested.

Re: Halo 4
Don't buy it.
Honestly, unless you have a coupon and a night with nothing to do, I wouldn't recommend renting it.
I'm only through the first three or four levels, but the story is shaping up to be as lame as Halo Wars.

Re: Halo 4
I feel like the story is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Halo Wars.
The main issue with the story is that I feel like certain aspects aren't being explained enough, which could be adding to how you think it's lame. Hopefully some of this will work itself out a bit more.
The multiplayer though is some of the best halo multiplayer I've ever played. The supply drops and weapon markers just amp up the same intensity that always existed.
I also like how armor is mainly unlocked from commendations and not rank.

Re: Halo 4
Is this from a Big Team Battle perspective, Team Ranked perspective, or MLG perspective? I've been craving some good small map 4v4 recently, i'm wondering if Halo 4 will bring any of that.KristallNacht wrote:The multiplayer though is some of the best halo multiplayer I've ever played. Re: Halo 4
I only played a few games of Regicide at a friends house, and it was fun but I'm concerned about the balance. It seems that you can start Plasma Pistol/Battle Rifle, and the Plasma Pistol doesn't drain when overcharged. That's a problem, imo.
Will probably buy it next week.

Re: Halo 4
From what I've heard about the campaign, I hear your mainly fighting the Covenant again, with the new Prometheans thrown in occasionally.( Who only have 3 different types of enemy).
My question is, do you enjoy fighting the Covenant once again for so much of Halo 4. It seems to me 343 have squandered this chance to break away from the previous games by playing it safe. But as I haven't played through it, I can't be certain.

No. All of their character has been removed. They could be Germans, they could be Combine, they could be anything else and it wouldn't matter.Vigil wrote:My question is, do you enjoy fighting the Covenant once again for so much of Halo 4.
That said, you spend as much time fighting Prometheans as you do Covenant... and Covenant are a lot more enjoyable.
Squandered? They spent years twisting the EU around so that we're back to fighting Covenant.Vigil wrote: It seems to me 343 have squandered this chance to break away from the previous games by playing it safe.

So everyone has been proclaiming that Halo 4 did much better than expected. Can I get some real, unbribed opinions?

Hm, interesting... It's actually worse than halo wars?
I know you said renting it isn't worth it, but I have to now. I'll probably either rent it or see if I can borrow a friends. From what I hear people are saying it's better, but I'm positive they're being biased.

Re: Halo 4
If the first level is an indication of the rest of the game, it is a good game but still a bit down hill from the original trilogy (though not to the degree Rasq is putting it). I certainly wouldn't say it looks worse than Halo Wars.
I'm still going to play it, though. I've sat through plenty of worse games and still enjoyed myself.

Re: Halo 4
Rasq is just a little bit too bitter.
The premise of the story is generally solid, but the pacing is a little too frantic at times. Which causes it to get a bit of call of duty syndrome where things just blur together too much.

Well then I guess I'll have to see for myself! I'm not sure if I'll like it though, especially since the general idea around the game is a major turnoff of mine but...
I'll try to look at it objectively?

Re: Halo 4
Bitter, bitter, bitte, of course I'm bitter! The whole story makes LESS sense when you've read the Extended Universe fiction that 343i has put out!KristallNacht wrote:Rasq is just a little bit too bitter.
Fiction that I had actually taken a liking to, by the way.
The story reads like fanfiction.KristallNacht wrote:The premise of the story is generally solid, but the pacing is a little too frantic at times. Which causes it to get a bit of call of duty syndrome where things just blur together too much.
The aesthetics look like Metroid.
The art department wouldn't know 'subtlety' if it was carved into every square inch of their skin.
The Chief and Cortana do get some good moments, though.

I'm more than impressed, this is far superior to Reach and quite possibly (although it is a bit early to say) my favorite Halo since Halo 2.
They have refined the gameplay and made multiplayer its best ever. I'm interested to see how they will expand upon the playlists as they are pretty limited as of now but 4v4 slayer is perfect and big team is much better than that of Reach. It is missing an iconic map like Sandtrap but I can deal with that.
It's not the same as the other Halo's but you can't expect it to be. The could have developed more characters beyond Chief and Cortana but I expect that to happen in the next installment.
As for the people who insist that it's terrible...well, I kind of expected that from a few people here but I think you are being sensationalist and absurd. It's a solid game by anyone's standards and even if the story was as awful as you are saying (which it is not), you could still get a lot of enjoyment out of smooth gameplay and fantastic multiplayer. I realize that it's not perfect and there are faults but by no means is it "Worse than Halo Wars".
I would definitely suggest buying the game.
