It looks like there is a hose that goes into the grunts nose for methane.KristallNacht wrote:.....did they also forget that grunts are the only species that breathes methane? They're going to need their masks anywhere that isn't a specific grunt living quarter.

Re: Halo 4
I thought the Grunts in the previous games actually didn't have necks. Either that, or their heads just looked hunched on their dead bodies.

they had necks, but visually the gas mask cut off most visual access to it

Re: Halo 4
Not only was methane how they breathed, but wasn't oxygen like toxic for them? I don't feel like the nose hose is really going to cut it.
Re: Halo 4
Halo Nation doesn't say oxygen is toxic to them.
Not definitive proof, but it did say the tubes will deliver methane through the nostrils.
Idk why they would change this though, I liked the old grunts.

I assume it would be like nitrogen is to us. Not toxic, but not necessary.Rotaretilbo wrote:Not only was methane how they breathed, but wasn't oxygen like toxic for them? I don't feel like the nose hose is really going to cut it.

Re: Halo 4
Yah, but the neck is as wide as the head itself (which is huge). It looks like a cross between an elcor and a krogan head with an orange bowl stuck around the nose.KristallNacht wrote:they had necks, but visually the gas mask cut off most visual access to it
Re: Halo 4
Don't know if oxygen would be good for Grunts, given that they breathe methane, but I don't think it's poisonous.
Thanks to SESpider of HBO for that.
Also, the part of the Grunts that's absolutely breaking canon is that they have skin now, rather than the arthropods they've been in five Halo games. Now they're midget cave trolls.

as technology to make things look good improves the artists ability to design good-looking things is decreasing... that grunt looks like some stupidly designed Gears of War enemy

Re: Halo 4
I didn't notice the toes... huh
To be fair, though, the 'bone spike' on the foot of the Halo 1 grunt could have been a mis-interpreted toe in the back (as is present on the Halo 2, 3, and Reach grunts).
Maybe the mask somehow changes elements from the air into methane? Would that be chemically sound? Probably not, but Halo is a Sci-Fi game after all.
Seriously, though... the neck is what bugs me above all else >.<

Re: Halo 4
Looks like the Covies aren't completely neutral then.
I vaguely recall that some of the elites are still hostile in the very brief bits of Glasslands I saw so I assume it's because of that.

Always a good fight with them.
I just hope they're not too frequent and it's like a single mission or two. I'd hate to see a supposed 'New Trilogy' resort to using the same old enemies and combat. This is a chance to really redefine what halo is about. It would not help if half of the game was you shooting the same enemies you have in 3 games prior.

As long as Grunts don't start quoting Vortigaunts when they see me (since you know, ended the whole slavery thing) i think i'm fine with them in the game.

Re: Halo 4
So, been reading everyone's posts and I know it's really delayed but I would like to give my 2 cents *ahem*
I do agree that the Grunts (or at least that particular grunt) do look pretty off compared to what we're used too but it's nothing I can't get over personaly. Of couse, as I'm sure all of you know already, they're will be more traditional looking Grunts in the game with full mask n' all. As seen in some of the screenies. So as to cover-up those shark faces.
The Elites I don't have much comment about as they don't look all that different from the ones in Reach. Basically to me, they look fine.
Multiplayer they are doing a lot of different things. Which I am glad to hear considering I think that if Halo is to continue as it will be doing, they need to try something different and mix up some of the gameplay. Not completely or anything obviously, but innovation will help keep Halo from the copying machine. I think, at least.
Anticipation for this game: Very high.

Yah.... not so sure about the multiplayer anymore. Weapons now require unlocking through a Call of Duty scheme. This includes the BR.

Couple weeks late, aren't y'all?
Anyhow, we've got live-action shorts inbound, taking place earlier in the war.

Re: Halo 4
They may be late but I heard about that already. It doesn't scare me at all because I doubt it will be exactly like CoD's system. I think if this is the way they choose to do it, they can balance it out. Halo has never really been one for unbalanced gameplay.
Now about that live-action web series. Hells yeah! I heard somewhere that it will focus (or at least have in it) the captain of the UNSC Infinity. I have not read Glasslands yet so I am interested to see that. Looking forward to it.

I know this is the wrong place for this question, but I was wondering what you guys thought of the book Halo Glasslands (for those that have it) since it is on sale and I can get it cheap.
