Re: Avatar
As hard as it would seem to make a sequel, I have confidence in Cameron. He made an Aliens movie when there was no sequel hook, and he rescued Terminator 2 from being a generic "Cyberdyne builds a new Terminator, it goes on rampage." That's plot I guarantee would have been written after movies like Robocop.
What, you think that the most badass child soldier ever and an artillery shell carrying, cigar smoking, Polish wrestling BROWN BEAR aren't Quartich's parents? Tell me, is there ANYONE ELSE in the universe capable of begetting someone as awesome as Quartich?
If there's a sequel, I fully expect Quartich's parents to come and avenge his death... Audie Murphy and Voytek.PiEdude wrote:Like the part where the Colonel's shirt catches on fire, and he just flat out ignores it until he reaches his walker.
I can already picture the demotivational for it:
"Colonel Miles Quaritch, Not even fire can stop him"

Cameron didn't "rescue" terminator 2, he wrote it from the beginning. Did it ever have the chance of being done by someone else?

Not sure he "Wrote it from the beginning", although he DID leave himself a sequel hook in a deleted scene.
But yeah, Cameron was still a pretty small name during and shortly after Terminator. It took several other projects to put his name up in lights.*

Re: Avatar
So I just saw the movie. And...can you guess? I loved it.
Yeah, there's nothing I can say that has not already been said here. So you guys get the idea. Great movie. Glad I got the chance to see it in theaters.
Also, about the whole sequel thing. I do believe that it can be done. How? Well IDK, I'm not an award winning writter. But Cameron is. And as Rasq has said, If anyone can do it and do it right, it's him. But I aslo do think that a prequel somewhere would be nice too. I mean it was obvious that the Humans were there on Pandora for a long time before our main character Jake rolled in. (get it? rolled in? lol ) Anyways, you guys have already said it here in this thread before but things like the Colonel's scar, the meeting of the Na'Vi and the schools etc etc. There is a lot of meterial for back story.
So yeah, great movie that is probably going to get a second movie weather it's a prequal or a sequel. And I'll be there to see it.

It's still a measly 5 million off, but that's off of Wiki, I am sure by the time I post this, it would have passed and then some.

It has passed titanic.
So enjoy another 10 years of an average Cameron film being overpraised and overrewarded.

Danke.
I've always had a soft spot or the Constitution refit from the movies.
Oh and Oscar season is coming up, and I wouldn't be surprised if Avatar bagged Best movie and director.
