Is it confirmed there will be an Avatar 2?

Re: Avatar
I actually don't think so. It'd just be 'Evil miners vs. Na'Vi' the whole way through. A sequel also doesn't seem really plausible, because of what Rotaretilbo said. If the Sky People come back with a fleet, the Na'Vi are screwed beyond belief.RockaHolicGameR wrote:I REALLY need to see this movie soon.
I'm missing out huh?
Also I agree with Rasq. I haven't even seen it yet. But from what I have seen, it looks like a prequel would be better suited for it.

I mean, when the Sky People return with a real army, the Na'vi are going to get their asses kicked. The buggers could even take down a small mining task force with the help of several traitors and a handful of advanced weapons. The entire animal populace of Pandora had to intervene at the last moment just to save their asses. I can't imagine things will go any differently in any sequels.
The doctor wrote the book on Pandora, and Quartich got that scar on his first day on-planet...
Story, please?
It would also be nice to know how they got there, what first reactions were to discovering of the Na'vi and how they cam across Unobtainium.

I'd go with a Prequel, we'd get some idea of the first contact between the humans and the Na'vi. It be nice to be shown slow break down from a mutual friendship, to a bitter and prolonged conflict.
A sequel would be five minutes long. A human fleet arrives over Pandora. They thenall open fire and reduce Pandora to rubble.

Re: Avatar
Saw it today, movie was ASTRONOMICALLY EPIC WIN on every level, including plot.
Words cannot even begin to describe how much I love this movie. Everything about it is just so WIN!
When I first saw the words "epic war scenes" on the content descriptors for the movie, I laughed, but when I saw the movie, I understood completely why they had to put it there.
Not to mention the countless internet memes that could come from it.
Like the part where the Colonel's shirt catches on fire, and he just flat out ignores it until he reaches his walker.
I can already picture the demotivational for it:
"Colonel Miles Quaritch, Not even fire can stop him"

Re: Avatar
In 2006, Cameron stated that if Avatar was successful, he hoped to make two sequels to the film.[21] In response to the film's financial success, Cameron confirmed the possibility of making sequels.[20][21]
Cameron has stated that the story arc developed for Avatar is large enough to cover future film installments,[191] something which he had planned from the start, going so far as to include certain scenes in the film because they led to the sequel.[192] The first sequel would take place after the events of the first film, and would continue to follow the characters of Jake and Neytiri.[193] Sam Worthington has signed on to reprise his role as Jake Sully in future sequels, and Stephen Lang, who played Colonel Miles Quaritch, believes his character could make a return: "You think those two arrows in my chest are going to stop me from coming back?" Lang told Entertainment Weekly, "Nothing's over so long as they've got my DNA."[192]
IF, the film was successful...
Oh James, you tease!
Colonel too, they have his DNA, so they can make him into an Avatar.

How can you make a sequel for Avatar? Maybe a prequel but a sequel (two even) just seem unlikely and pointless.

Re: Avatar
Yeah true, I hope they at least come out with one prequel, ideally first before the squeequel.
DUDE, Avatar is still making, exorbitant amounts of money, even now, like, it has made 300 million in the last week...
You know, I take it back, I think it may actually become the highest grossing film of all time. It's at 1.6 billion, while Titanic is at 1.8...

I could see them making a sequel.
Probably going to involve some humans launching a counter attack.

Are you kidding? Of course it will be. I'm FINALLY seeing the movie tonnight because all of the shows today up until now were sold out. Everywhere.
Everytime I made the effort these past couple weeks its been sold out. Which means people are seeing it 2-3 times.

Of course they will. Knowing how the first one will work, the sequel will probably be three and a half hours long, spend much of it's time showing how Jake is now "one of the people" and the last ten minutes, humans come in and blow them up.

Maybe they will surprise us with a well thought out story. It's possible. I don't know what you could do more with it cause I haven't seen it yet but I'm sure there's somthing there.

Re: Avatar
Do any of you honestly believe that an Avatar sequel will feature humanity returning to Pandora and winning long-term?
I can see how they might come back and enslave the Na'vi or something like that, but Mr. Cameron isn't gonna just have them use orbital attack and then mine the remains.

Well all I have to say is that it's possible that they can. But I do agree that from what I have heard and seen from it, a prequel sounds more it would work better. Somewhat.

Except that's what WOULD happen. Cause Humans are assholes (even more so portrayed in this film) and will no doubt be back with a larger force.

A prequel would be a better idea, and you'll understand why once you see the film.

No no, like I had friends who had seen it 3 times the opening week, and its been A month, so I didn't think it would still be sold out.
It was only showing once a day in the closest theater to my house.

Really? Cause the theaters by me usually show it at least twice (in both 3D and regular)
