Re: Dennis Roadman visits Kim Jong-un in North Korea
Pretty sure every news outlet in the world beat me to the punch on that one.
How about the news that N.Korea vowed a strike on the U.S just days ago?

Re: Dennis Roadman visits Kim Jong-un in North Korea
north korea vowing a "strike" on us is amusing, their military is well equipped compared to us in the 40s, they have to set watches on eachother to stop themselvef from defecting. and if they honestly tried to do anything nuclear to us we could probably make their country stop existing without even needing to use our own nukes.
as long as we didn't plan on doing some stupid shit like rebuilding or occupying the country

One of the few good uses of our military-industrial complex would be removing the regime from NK. Using nukes would be nice, but in reality there's also South Korea RIGHT THERE and plus there's tons of innocent people in NK.

Re: Dennis Roadman visits Kim Jong-un in North Korea
The problem with war against North Korea is that the entire Korean peninsula would become a huge fucking crater. They couldn't beat us in a war, but they definitely have enough strength to blow a lot of South Korea to smithereens. Which would be bad.

Re: Dennis Roadman visits Kim Jong-un in North Korea
They don't really though.
All the tech they have aimed at South Korea is Soviet Union era shit. Half of the cannons might not even WORK anymore.
There is enough of it that they can do some damage on initial strike against the border towns of S.K but a prolonged war North Korea would be annihilated.
They don't even have enough food to keep their people from starving NOW, let alone their soldiers in wartime.
I'm just taking into account N.Korea v S.Korea. Not even having us involved or any of the U.N.
The real problem is what to do after destroying the current Government. Soon as they do that the N.Koreans will want to leave. They've been starving for so long and killed for speaking against their government I can't imagine a single one would WANT to stay. Not to mention all the ones that want to reunite with their families in S.Korea. And a lot of the ones in the Northern part of the country would probably try to move north to China.
So what do you do? Accept them into S.Korea? S.Korea has population of 47 million and I doubt they could financially afford to take in the 24 million refugees of N.Korea into their border and China would not want that as well.
Putting in a new government would mean actively taking a part in the conflict and assassinating another countries leader which we try not to do. Helping the local population overthrow the active government is what we do but N.Koreas people are so whipped that they would never think about trying to harm Dear Leader. Even so rebuilding another country from effectively the ground up would be a huge money sink of billions of dollars which no country would want to do.
The problem is a lot more complicated then "Kill that dude".

Re: Dennis Roadman visits Kim Jong-un in North Korea
Pretty sure the End result of North Korea attacking us is completely dismantling its country and Forming 'Korea' proper again.
The only reason we don't attack NK is because we rather not give china a reason to get involved, if NK attacks South Korea, Japan or even Us, China can't say shit so were essentially just waiting.

Actually, if we take out the government of North Korea, we'd have to build a new nation, and that'll go over so well with the public after Afghanistan and Iraq.
And yeah, China would get involved.

Re: Dennis Roadman visits Kim Jong-un in North Korea
China has stopped giving as much of a fuck lately.
N.Korea is becoming more of a nuisance than anything and it's not profitable to keep helping them anymore and they really don't want them to be starting shit with their #1 exporter who they make trillions of dollars off of.
If N.Korea starts shit than they aren't going to get much backing from China.

Re: Dennis Roadman visits Kim Jong-un in North Korea
I'm of the heartless opinion here, but if the leaders of N Korea attack us then in my opinion in the middle of the night we bomb all their government buildings and military encampments, essentially dismantling their government... then leave their citizens to fend for themselves, if the next government that puts itself in place is as bad and tried to be headstrong and threaten people again, so be it. they can die too.
I don't think theres anything wrong with destroying their government and then leaving the rest of the country to figure it out on their own. either china or S Korea would probably step in for the rebuilding.
its heartless and immoral, but when dealing with the kid that throws rocks at people on the playground it is sometimes best to just punch him in the face and let him contemplate his actions in his pool of blood on the ground. if he stands back up to continue throwing stones, then he deserves to get his shit continually beaten out of him.
if we didn't worry our heads with trying to "fix" the country and allowed ourselves to just remove their cancer and leave, that would be much cheaper and faster way to go.
for the nuclear problem, either get all their scientists and bring them to the US to work... or imprison them, keep the sanctions on the country (with dire consequences for ANY breaking of them)
the best thing of all would be to get the North Koreans and China fighting eachother... take the matter out of our hands all-together, those communist bastards wouldn't pull any punches fearing we would get involved.

An American soldier, a S Korean soldier, and a N Korean soldier.... guess which one is from the country that can't feed its people since all its money goes into a military it can't support or afford

We already have enough problems with the international community without arbitrarily deciding to blow up a country. The world won't stand by while we kill thousands of civilians. Especially since most of them are not at fault for what is happening in that country.
TBH, i don't think that recreating a government in North Korea would be nearly as difficult as in Iran or Afganistan--China nonwithstanding. I don't think we'd be fighting such a strong insurgency, since North Koreans don't have nearly as much of a reason to hate us. In the Middle East we actively supported a host of dictators and abusive leaders in order to further our agenda, indirectly or even directly oppressing the populace, so when they had the chance to fight back they did so. In North Korea, we've been opposed to that activity, and we don't have big issues where we split with the populace (like, for instance, supporting Israel). If we do it right and bring the basic necessities of life, it shouldn't be too hard for us to win the support of the population.
Of course, if we deal with North Korea we have to deal with China. Although we could always just blow up North Korea and tell China to pick up the pieces.

Re: Dennis Roadman visits Kim Jong-un in North Korea
I didn't say my idea was feasible or nice. I said it would be the cheapest option.
and if you dont think that the North Koreans hate us you are very much mistaken... they are starved and horribly abused, but they have also been brainwashed their entire life into thinking that they have it great.... and they honestly believe that their leaders are magical deities.
also I didn't say bomb the shit out of the whole country, just anything that the leaders would be proud of, meaning the palace, their head government building, some military installations and maybe some statues of their dear leader.... oh man and the burial place of kim jong il.
this is one of the few places in the world where killing off the government outwright would actually save peoples lives, since they tax the fuck out of them which leads to people starving

So... what if we bomb the government flat, and leave the occupation to people they've never heard of?KrAzY wrote:I didn't say my idea was feasible or nice. I said it would be the cheapest option.

Re: Dennis Roadman visits Kim Jong-un in North Korea
my point is there not being an occupying force at all, whoever stepts up to lead the country after all the cancer is gone will have the benefit of no sanctions and foreign assistance if they are friendly and play nice, there would be no destruction of their national supplies or wealth (or lack thereof)... just the lingering threat that if they pull the same shit as the last regime we will do the same thing to them.
its not nice, its not fair to them... but peacefully sanctioning them obviously wont make them stop. them preemptively nuking south korea and getting both countries destroyed would be bad.... full war with North Korea would do FAR more damage to them and their people... and occupation breeds resentment and would end up prolonging a war and causing insurgencies.
we need to send a message that we aren't afraid and will not put up with bullshit. I don't honestly think that just blowing up the N korean government would work, but I do honestly think that if a country has nukes and a crazy leader then that leader needs to have a gun pointed at his head 24/7 and needs to know that it is pointed at him
(to be clear again... I am not actually advocating just blowing up their government and leaving.... I am not deluded enough to think that would actually be a feasible option)

I've tried to post in this thread like four times, and every time, I finish my post, reread it, and realize that my posts are so insensitive and heartless that they are best left unposted. It makes me sad.
