If they brought back Sandtrap and Sidewinder/Avalanche I'd be quite happy. I also think a remake of The Pit would make sense in the multiplayer lore they're writing.

sandtrap was okay, but I think they could do better with making a whole new big open map.
Sidewinder on the other hand, was amazing. I bought those maps for halo 3 purely for that map.

Avalanche was my favourite objective/BTB map in Halo 3. The number of ways into your enemies base made it very fun to play.

I really liked Guardian. Would love to see that map again.
On the subject of maps though, I know they have 1 big forge map again. But what they need to do is eventually have more varied forge world maps. Snow, dessert, jungle, forerunner, covenant etc. And possibly have different textures for buildings and structures etc.
Asking for a lot I know (and maybe even impossible for console) but, How could would that be? Imagine what the community could do. And have more options for modes and such. Like in Reach, it still had some good custom game modes with the ability to change game mode mechanics.
I think I hope for too much...

Rock, you're oh so right.
And as awesome as forge world was, I miss having decorative items too. The radar towers, decorative vehicles, barriers, weapon holders, and pallets had a lot of great uses in Halo 3.
I'd also love to see a full vehicle selection (including vehicles from previous games if at all possible), vehicle-size teleporters, and no money cap (individual item and total item caps are enough). A MP-forge-only equipment comeback would be neat too. Ooo... and the turrets with shields built on the front from Halo 2; the shades in Halo: Reach are far too weak.
A firefight forge would be sweet too, even if we can't edit anything about the AI.

I dont think they will ever release a full scenery selection for forge world, I think they have figured out the reason why nobody really wanted to get the map packs was because half of the maps in them could have just been made in forgeworld.
Though why they didn't just release a forge world map with each pack is beyond me, they would actually sell then.

Well, Bungie only made one map packs for Halo Reach. Noble was pretty cool and came with a firefight map.
Defiant was made by the same people who made the Blasttastic map pack for Halo 2 and I think the Anniversary map pack was made by 343i. Or was that Bungie? idk.

Bungie spent years in development to make forge world function. the reason 343 havn't made one is probably because they dont know how to do it.

they demonstrated one of their claimed multiple forge environments (RT did an achievement horse on it) and it looked pretty small....but then again, they didn't specifically try to show it ALL.
what I would like is adding in the more cinematic versions of vehicles that already exist in the game. like the transport falcon, and the transport hog, and the civilian vehicles. They were in reach already, but not in forge.

You're forgetting something. Mechs AND dubstep! And why don't they just make a larger, quadrupedal, one that has giant lasers and you need a banshee with a harpoon gun to take out the legs just to destroy it.
Then they can remake sidewinder from Halo: CE and call it Hoth.
Then train spartans in the way of the jedi.
