Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
It can get away with that cuz it has "star wars" in the title.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
From the looks of it, TOR will have the exact same subscription plan that WoW uses. Last I checked, WoW doesn't have "Star Wars" anywhere in the title. Rather, TOR can get away with it because BioWare is a reputable company with a long history of good RPGs.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
That's because it's world of warcraft.
I really don't think the majority of people who will play this game have played any other Bioware game.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
That argument doesn't really work, because if you're implying that a majority of the players will be hardcore Star Wars fans, those fans will have at least played Knights of the Old Republic, and likely subsequently played the Mass Effect series.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Basically everyone has played Mass Effect and/or Kotor though.
I'll play it with the first free month I have and keep my eye on it. If it tries to put the price up any higher im out.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
EA knows a price hike would be suicide, and the fact that there is a way to save money unlike with WoW.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Alright, I just got an email essentially saying "Thank you for testing" and then another with a link for a survey to rate my testing experience. I never got an email saying "here's your testing code" or anything to that effect. Emails from swtor[at]email[dot]swtor[dot]com are as follows.
July 21: Pre-order is now available.
September 7: Pre-order so your guild can get early access. (I redeemed my pre-order on August 28)
September 24: Release date announced.
September 29: Now that you've tested, pre-order to get early access at launch
September 29: Now that you've tested, take this survey to compare testing experience.
WHAT THE FUCK!?
Can someone who received the guild testing invite confirm what email address TOR sent it from so I can verify that it isn't in my spam filter or something? I've looked through, but I don't see anything.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
They must have accidentally sent them to the wrong usergroup, then. :/
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
They sent out emails but some people got them but also didn't receive them at the same time
(meaning they fucked up)
If you guys send an email to them they might let you in the beta!

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
They just sent them out on accident was all.
I got one too.
Good news is that if you DID get the email that means you ARE eligible to play the game and are on a list somewhere.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Just got what I assume is a mass email in regards to an internal email distribution error saying the two emails in regards to testing were sent in error.
