Current estimates of our codex are around 120,000 words of text. By comparison, the average Star Wars novel comes in at around 100,000 words.

MMO's are always subscription based Civ... no way around it

they could however do what Star Trek Online did and have a life time option for $100 or so.

Actually Guild Wars was not subscription and one of the few MMOs I've played that I actually liked.
