I was thinking that maybe the weapons were forerunner weapons adapted to model weapons on the Infinity as part of a larger plot idea. It's a long shot, but it would also explain similarities to previous weapons. And, of course, forerunner ideas wouldn't be too different from that of humans if the two species share some sort of connection.

Exactly. Training and sparring for the S-IV's you could say. Kinda like the War room from X-Men.

Personally, I like the way this is approached. "Training" in MP/War Games then going out in the Spartan Ops missions. I see it fitting as the Spartan Ops chapters will have story and even cut scenes. I am excite.

Its nice to see the MP getting a lil story compared to just red and blue people constantly killing each other. XP

There actually is no physical connection between Forerunners and humans (according to Greg Bear). A bigger spoiler follows:

Regardless, modern human tech could have subliminally been influenced by the ancient forerunners. Many similarities suggest so.

Maybe they're not forerunners, but either a race made the forerunners or something mutated them (or they mutated themselves)?

I don't know that is just off the top of my head.

Just Cryptum, not Primordium yet.

You can't deny that humanity is more closely related to the Forerunners than any other species we've seen so far. And even in a devolved state, Bornstellar and the Didact were able to relate to Chakas and whoever the other guy was.

Where in the shit did you come from? As always I'm very interested to see how it all plays out, there is certainly a lot of potential for the game to be good. More than anything I want to know what new direction they're planning to take the story in. The forerunner entity could be virtually anything and suddenly they have a lot of freedom to make the plot exciting, surprising, and interesting.

Of course the gameplay trailer was the first thing I've seen from Halo 4 that gave me any reason to be optimistic. The likeness to call of duty is driving me insane and so far I'm disappointed with every decision they have made concerning multiplayer. We will just have to see.

I think people tend to be upset by things that are different but I think it's way to early to judge. In terms of its likeness to CoD I completely disagree, I saw nothing of the sort.

I am very interested in the direction they are taking the mulitplayer. Reach grew stale for me pretty quickly and I rarely if ever play it. It needs something new and refreshing to make it fun again. Quite frankly I am just happy they aren't making the same rehashed game over and over again like CoD.

Customizable loadouts, kill streaks, perks, more emphasis on armor abilities, SPARTAN OPS, etc

The only major changes in multiplayer are undeniably geared towards call of duty and its audience.

Are they still using a weapon unlock system rather than weapons on maps?

The killstreaks are only in the Infinity gametypes. I could be wrong, but I would assume the same for the other "cod-esque" additions to the game. People weren't complaining at the addition of Invasion which is very similar to Battlefield's Rush.

The other additions are fine. The game needs to evolve and become something else with each new installation. If it didn't we would all be complaining that we are paying for the same game over and over.

I wouldn't necessarily consider killstreaks or weapon unlocks an evolution... but it's fine if they keep the classic weapons-on-maps system as well.

They're not inherently bad traits and can be a fun change of pace, but I still prefer the classic Halo 3 style of multiplayer to classes, unlocks, and killstreaks. As long as they do it like Halo Reach, where they added a sort of class system but didn't require it to be used, I'm absolutely fine with it.

There are loadouts, but they are only basic weapons; i.e., you can spawn with a battle rifle, a pistol, and a few various upgrade choices (I forget the details). The weapons still spawn on the map, but apparently they are randomized each round. Which makes me wonder how Forge will work.

I feel as if people are judging a game for balance before they have even gotten the chance to play it...or see more than 5 minutes of gameplay for that matter. I think everyone should calm down and see how it all plays out.

I never said that it would be bad, Avenged. I'm displeased by the FPS market's general convergence on the CoD:MW style of multiplayer, but I'm not judging Halo 4 yet.
