Re: Halo: Reach 2.0
there are other explanations they can sue
"its a prototype" is about the laziest thing a science fiction writer can do
I am working on writing a science fiction game pitch right now with some colleagues... if anyone in our group started pulling shit like the writers at bungie have been doing for the last couple games they would get laughed out of the group.
and we aren't even being paid! ... people are getting paid, making money, to come up with some of this garbage. 2 years and I will be out of college and in the industry... hopefully one day I can help end this cycle of lazy storytelling for more money

Re: Halo: Reach 2.0
but they have not made a GAME yet and if they make a bad game i will dislike them.
Halo Wars defiantly was not canon we all know that so why do you continue to care about that

Re: Halo: Reach 2.0
343 made Halo Legends right? Maybe they gave the thumbs up on the shield power up generators.

Is Lord of the Rings any worse because you watched the movie first?

The MA5C.KrAzY wrote:oh, so their armor is a prototype now too?
but seriously... what in the fucking halo universe is not a god damn prototype?
And yeah, I have to agree with KrAzY. I can easily write a Halo Legends episode, a Halo Evolutions short story, or a Halo novel without including prototypes.
I really hate the Prototype explanation, because it's a lame excuse to haul out a Deus Ex Machina or a bit of flash, without having to work too hard to integrate it into the existing backstory. And it always eclipses the storytelling or the characters, which is what I read a story for.
Hell, in Isolation, I'm making FUN of the Prototype Trope. A Protoype HMD used by one of the characters is only so good because the company building it LOADED it with lots of Awesome Yet Practical Yet Expensive features, because they were bidding to lose. It all has something to do with tax brackets and government grants, so that the company would get money from the government to buy out the winning bidders and buy more production facilities.
They didn't.Vtrooper wrote:2. are Re-Writing the books (BTW: Battle of Reach is now in 2542 because of this, FU
The re-release is rife with typos because of a mis-communication between 343 and Tor. IIRC, 2542 is the date given in the ORIGINAL tFoR, which had typo issues of it's own.
It's still 2552.

Actually my original copy of FoR says it was 2542. It's a well known mistake that Nylund himself admitted too.
It just shows how lazy these reprints are, they couldn't even be bothered to fix the mistakes already there.

Re: Halo: Reach 2.0
well Reach has some impressive visuals in it... the landscapes in it are also top of the line... I find it the most interesting part of some games... and since environmental modeling is what I am looking to do as a job once I am out of college I like to buy games just to look at how nice the settings are
