Re: Halo: Reach
That does look awesome, but the special assassinations look annoying. Especially since it looks like you're invincible when doing them. Could be another GoW chainsaw fiasco before we know it.

Re: Halo: Reach
Your not. When you do that animation your vulnerable to being shot.
Also to assinate someone you need to hold down the button, as standard tap will kill a guy from behind as usual.
So I doubt they'll be assassination conga lines like Gears.

Re: Halo: Reach
Meh.
What I'd like to see is an armor ability that allows you to stab teabaggers from beyond the grave, and they have to run around with that knife sticking out of their butt for the rest of the game.
Doing it is simple: you hold down the melee button while waiting to respawn.

Yeah, I'm a little nervous about this whole 'loadout' business.

Re: Halo: Reach
Yeah, but some guns are better then others, but more importantly, some people are way better with certain guns (that they now have instant access too) then others are. So these people (who probably will only use the DMR) no longer have to run the gauntlet to get the good stuff.
I guess they did a fair deal of balancing to make sure that everything is in working order, but the BR has been overpowered in two consecutive games, so who knows? I just have a feeling that certain classes will be spammed like no tomorrow.

Re: Halo: Reach
DMR is single shot and if you spam the trigger you won't hit shit.
People will have to fire it consveratively.

in case you didn't notice...there aren't that many loadouts....and in halo 2 everyone started with the BR anyway. was Halo 2s multiplayer shit because of that? hell no.

Re: Halo: Reach
Halo 2's multiplayer was not shit? Are you sure you were playing the right game?
The BR was the worst thing that could ever happen to halo, it utterly destroyed the gameplay mechanics. The thing is, it's not about everyone spawning with the same gun, it is having certain guns that certain people are really good at using, available to them every time they spawn.
And like I already said, I'm sure they did a great deal of balancing, so my suspicions are (hopefully) not pertinent.

Pistol in Halo CE. Gameplay was still very good, better than Halo 3's.Ringleader wrote:

It had absolutely nothing to do with dual-wielding and SMG starters, of course.

I played it knowing that the mechanics were fundamentally flawed, and I stopped a long time ago because Halo 3 came out (the lesser of two evils). When I play halo 2 or 3, half the time it feels like I'm bashing my brains out with a rock, but I still played it because I'm bored. It was marginally entertaining but it caused an unnecessary amount of grief for everyone that wouldn't stoop down to using the BR (bewitch rifle). Playing Halo 2 and 3 is like, mental masochism, more then genuine entertainment.
and if the timelessness of a game is a measure of how good it is, then I guess Halo CE would be better because a lot of people including myself still play it.

Halo 2 multiplayer? I said it was mechanically flawed, not that I hate it, most games are mechanically flawed in some way or another.

Re: Halo: Reach
Indeed. Halo is not a perfect game by far, but it has earned its reputation. Using torture metaphores hardly do it justice.

They aren't going to a change a formula that has been successful for nearly a decade just because a minority of fans (Like you) didn't enjoy that gameplay. I hate MW2 multiplayer style, but it's not going to stop Infinity ward making MW3 virtually unchanged from MW2. I can live with that, as I'm not venturing into the COD series again.
Reach is going to be very similar to Halo 3's multiplayer, just expand on it, as 3 did with Halo 2. It's a very linear expansion, as it not going to be a ground-up upheal of the old system, more a reinfinement.
If you didn't like Halo 2 online, you won't like Halo 3 Online, and ergo Reach online.
If it 'tortures' you so much, I suggest you go find another multiplayer game, and if you give a damn about Halo anymore (Seriously a lot here seem to be more or less done with it.) Just rent it, finish the campaign and leave it.

Re: Halo: Reach
Well said. IMO, it's better to polish something to a shine than to constantly rebuild a good thing. Halo 3 is probably the best multiplayer system I've ever seen and Reach looks like it is doing some major building on what works. I'm happy with that.
