Hmmm, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be, the beginning was sort of all right, but it was still pretty bad for what it should be.

Anybody going to watch the 'making of' this one on Saturday?
I'm going to watch just because I know they'll come up with half ass excuses which make no sense. And I will laugh.

Re: Halo: Legends 'The Babysitter' Review.
- Spoiler:
- I'd just like to point out a few things Vigil missed in the topic post (not going to read six pages to check if these are there).
First, the Brute Chieftain was wearing blue armor, which would indicate him to be the lowest of ranking. Yet he was old and wielded a hammer. Odd.
Then, Cal stops the Brute midswing with one hand from a horizontal angle. That is to say, it is implied that Cal, a Spartan, has more strength in one outstretched arm, than the Brute does in two arms swinging down. Ridiculous.
Further, O'Brien takes a shot from two miles away, but you may notice that he doesn't lead the shot at all. Bullets travel fast, but not that fast!
And finally, there aren't any unknown MIAs. We know every single Spartan not present at Reach: Sam (KIA), Sheila (KIA), Randall (MIA), Kurt (MIA), Adrianna (Active), Jai (Active), Mike (Active), Maria (WIA). Since Cal was never named in the episode itself, I had assumed that she was Sheila, the year 2544, and the location Miridem, which would have been some very nifty work on the anime writers' part (or rather, some amazing luck). But, alas, she was apparently named in a Welcome to Waypoint video about the Babysitter. Really too bad. Halo Legends joins Halo Wars in disregarding canon for the sake of drama.

- Spoiler:
Maybe the guy has poor luck. Some people never seem to rank up Odd that a Brute Minor has a hammer, but it seemed to be a bit more ornate, and you've the pictures of the Halo Wars Chieftain, he had bright red armour. It seems they can have whatever colour they want, even if it is completely retarded.
Very True, as John had great difficulty fighting a Brute in First Strike, and it was obviously stronger than him. But Cal had ridiculous strength anyway, she had been able to throw a HEV a good 2 metres in a low throw.
Yeah, the Bullet was only a few centimetres from his head. You have to deal with wind resistance, recoil and the target moving.
Really? Because I was pretty sure I read that there were two Spartan who were known to be MIA, but were never named. Can't remember where I read it, but I could easily be mistaken.
Well Halo already fucked that over with Spartan Team Omega and 'Red Team' Apparantly there were now 24 Spartans at Reach. You can't just keep changing the number when it suits you guys.

John is neither the fastest, nor the strongest, nor the smartest.
But still, Cal shouldn't have been able to do that.

- Spoiler:
- I suppose so, but it still seemed weird for such a veteran Brute with a hammer to only have blue armor. The armor was also not ornate enough to be that of a chieftain. The headpiece was too simple.

- Spoiler:
- The HEV throw I forgave as anime exaggeration. But stopping the hammer one handed from that angle would have been impossible for any Spartan. I'll see if I can't figure out the math for how strong one has to be to stop something like that, but I'm guessing it's at least twice as strong.

- Not to mention time. In order for a bullet to travel two miles without requiring leading, the gun would have to have a muzzle velocity of over 3000 m/s! At that speed, the bullet would probably just break up! The AMRs of today don't even reach 1000 m/s muzzle velocity...

- [s]In FoR, it states that, aside from the three Spartans that are too far away to be at Reach, there are three KIAs (not counting Sam) and one WIA. In GoO, the three Spartans that are too far away are revealed to be Gray Team, and the three Spartans that were KIA somewhere other than Reach (aside from Sam) are revealed to be Kurt, Randall, and Sheila.[/s] I just whipped out the books, and there actually is room for Cal if that whole sniper thing took place after 2541.

- Spoiler:
- Actually, counting Halo Wars, the current count is 20 now at Reach, with only 17 of those planetside.
33 (Total Survived Training) - 3 (Gray Team - Adrianna, Jai, Mike) - 1 (Sam) - 3 (KIA after 2541 - Sheila, unknown, unknown) - 2 (MIA prior to 2542 - Kurt, Randall) - 1 (WIA - Maria) = 23 (At Reach) - 3 (Blue Team - John, Linda, James) = 20 (Planetside)
33 (Total Survived Training) - 3 (Gray Team - Adrianna, Jai, Mike) - 1 (Sam) - 3 (KIA after 2541 - Sheila, Cal, unknown) - 2 (MIA prior to 2542 - Kurt, Randall) - 1 (WIA - Maria) - 3 (Red Team - Doug, Jerome, Alice) = 20 (At Reach?) - 3 (Blue Team - John, Linda, James) = 17 (On Reach?)
To be fair, Nylund's own numbers in the book aren't exact. In TFoR it would seem that 25 was the number, whereas in FS, I think he says 27 Spartans are planetside, which would mean that, aside from Blue Team, only Gray Team was not present, and in GoO, the number is more like 23.

I saw it, they didn't really explain much about why the Covenant looked the way they did, or why she died. Just about how the feud between ODSTs and Spartans were and things like that.

The episode was made to show how the compatition between ODSTs and Spartans. Spartans and ODSTs being on almost the same level. The constant clash between the two. During the war(as I assume you know) spartans were given much of the credit for victories won, thus leaving ODSTs in the dust. ODSTs viewed spartans as glory hogs who recieve the best equiement and things like that, while spartans just viewed them as soldiers they fight beside. Then it went into about why they picked studio 343 and why they picked the director who went on to say how ODSTs and Spartans were basically the same. Which is why he made the Spartan almost the same size(height) as ODSTs.
Basically they went on about that.
