Re: Halo: Legends 'The Babysitter' Review.
In Fall of Reach i remember John seeing the Elites and being familiar with them. They were seen sometimes, but perhaps not often.
They hadn't seen HUNTERS before Fall of Reach.
And, as already stated, this could easily be a mission kept secret from the other Spartans. Since the only Spartan died (and was therefore MIA), it could easily be kept secret by ONI.

Hunters were encountered in Sigma Octanus, in about 2536. I don't have a problem with Hunters and Elites being retconned, but since the Brutes and the Prophets were so important to the games, I wish these idiots would leave them the hell alone.

Because, you know, it's not like the other Spartans are going to figure out that somebody has gone missing.

Re: Halo: Legends 'The Babysitter' Review.
Sorry, i screwed up with some dates. But, since this was a top secret ONI mission, things that go on here CAN be kept secret. Much like Brutes on Harvest.Rasq'uire'laskar wrote:Wrong.TNine wrote:In Fall of Reach i remember John seeing the Elites and being familiar with them. They were seen sometimes, but perhaps not often.

I never said that...but the other Spartans don't neccasarily know the specifics of the mission.Yeah...TNine wrote:And, as already stated, this could easily be a mission kept secret from the other Spartans. Since the only Spartan died (and was therefore MIA), it could easily be kept secret by ONI.

Re: Halo: Legends 'The Babysitter' Review.
ONI doesn't cover everything up left and right.
look at our intelligence agencies. if one of them hid information of something as important as important as knowing what leadership was, new enemy races, or any of the other stuff people credit them for, it would be in some deep shit when PEOPLE DIE because of that.
ONI is supposed to help win the war, not be a cop-out for every problem with canon that arises

Re: Halo: Legends 'The Babysitter' Review.
I miss the good old days of Halo 2, where there were Brutes and Prophets... but they weren't overly important (until the schism, of course). The brutes were an odd-ball faction that didn't get much tech and the Prophets were religious nuts that didn't like to get out much.

I think Halo 2 was where things started to go wrong. It introduced a lot o interesting ideas and concepts about the Flood, UNSC and espically the Covenant.
Since then, they're been this massive need to add more to them.
Sometimes, things are left better unsaid.

Re: Halo: Legends 'The Babysitter' Review.
I don't think they did bad with Halo 2. I liked the idea of the Brutes in the game and the prophets, the gravemind, all that jazz.
My problem is that after Halo 3 was released, people began to focus not on where the game was going, but the background to all that had happened. This wouldn't be a problem, but because Halo 3 left off with the Covenant being made up of primarily brutes, that is where the attention stayed.
Everyone got so wrapped up with elites being the good guys and brutes being the bad guys in Halo 3 that they didn't go back to the old ways for the prequels. That's where a lot of stuff got screwed up as far as brutes go.
The story behind the flood and Spartans is similar. Flood had been in the past three Halo games (because the story for the Halo games pretty much revolved around the idea of MC and the rings/flood) and people like ES wouldn't let go of it. Bungie did a great job with the MC storyline IMO, but people began to apply MC themes to stories that weren't about MC. It just doesn't work.

Oh god.... I'd love to see (false) how they'd put flood in ODST.
