Re: DoW: Dark Crusade
w00t!
3v3,
Eldar, IG(me), and Necron
vs.
SM, Chaos and Eldar
Our necron player took alot of points and didn't do ANYTHING, and the eldar player did good. there were two chokepoints on each side of the map that led to the teams' bases. I held one of those the entire game by myself against all three enemies and their ocmbined assaults.
Heavy Weapons w/Autocannons + Basalisks + baneblade = Win

Re: DoW: Dark Crusade
MAH BATTEL PLEHNS!
REHVEELED111!
Faction IG
STD Game
Plan 1: Skirmisher
Plan 2: Defender
Plan 1: Focuses on quick outward expansion and offensive units/tactics.
-Build :two power generators
-Train :two Guardsmen Squads from HQ
-Command:Guardsmen Squads to take all start strategic points(follows through entire game)
-Train :two Tech Priests
-Build :Tactical Command
-Build : Listening Posts as available
-Build :two power generators
-Command: Guardsmen Squads to move outward toward enemies and take more strategic points
-Upgrade:HQ to Tier 2
-Build :Infantry Command
-Train :Command Squad
TIER 2 REACHED (should be within like 5 minutes at the most)
-Build :Two Vehicle Commands
*note, if you have not been attacked yet, expect it to be coming soon
-Upgrade:Vehicle Commands for production of all three available units
-Train :ASAP, three Hellhounds, two Sentinels
-Train :Guardsmen squads as need. Have AT LEAST 3 and a command squad at all times
PLAN 1 END
The rigid part of Plan 1 ends when you hit tier two and get those initial vehicles out. After that, you have to set it up so you are countering what your opponent makes. This plan is usefull when you are an offensive player or need to do an IG rush. I have had vehicles out in something like 6 minutes before... while all the enemies are charging with infantry.
Always remember that a tier 1 IG player cant do shit.. you stay there for too long and you are dead. Guardsmen can only do so much.

Re: DoW: Dark Crusade
Plan 2: Like Plan 1 but with greater focus on getting to tier 3 and defense
-Build :two power generators
-Train :two Guardsmen Squads from HQ
-Command:Guardsmen Squads to take all start strategic points(follows through entire game)
-Train :two Tech Priests
-Build :Tactical Command
-Build :Listening Posts as available
-Build :two power generators
-Command: Guardsmen Squads to move outward toward enemies and take more strategic points
-Upgrade:HQ to Tier 2
TIER 2 REACHED (should be within like 4 minutes at the most)
-Build :Vehicle Command
-Build :Infantry Command
-Train :Nine Heavy Weapons Teams(highest priority here, they train slow and you need them out ASAP)
*note, if you have not been attacked yet, expect it to be coming soon
-Upgrade:Vehicle Commands for production of Basalisks
-Train :Two Basalisks
-Upgrade:As soon as you have enough resources and some units qeued up, HQ to tier 3
TIER 3 REACHED (fuck yea your close now)
-Upgrade Heavy Weapons Teams with Autocannons
PLAN 2 END
Plan 2 is focused on one unit type - Heavy Weapons Teams. Its entire point is to get several teams out and upgraded with autocannons for the first enemy assault. This plan leaves you weak at the begining and reliant on allies, however, as soon as your defenses are up you should be quite capable of defending yourself and holding any ground you or your allies take.
The plan is focused around defending, and pushing forward while the enemies are weak and forming a new line. NEVER try to do a Bltizkrieg like you would with many other factions as it will fail miserably. This is primarily a defensive strategy for team games.

We did, sorry about that.
I hate commander/hero units(IG command squad isn't bad, its made up of regular units) that can be used to rush like that.
And just beacuse you know my plan does not mean you will win. You have to realize that I will play differently in a 1v1, since both of those are geared towards team games

Re: DoW: Dark Crusade
IMPERIAL GUARD TIPS: Using Guardsmen
Guardsmen Squads are among the weakest infantry in the game. They are cheap, they are numerous. Though they may seem to present no threat, with proper management they can defeat far superior foes.
Early game, Guardsmen can effectively counter enemy infantry but will be killed by heavy infantry. Luckily you can get more infantry for your buck due to their cheap cost.
Unless you are fighting enemies in ranged combat and have the ranged advantage, use 1/3 of your Guardsmen in a charge. Send them into melee, keeping the enemy squads occupied while the other groups use their ranged attacks to deal the damage. This is especially useful against standard Ranged Heavy Infantry and units like Fire Warriors or Dark Reapers.
Next up is properly upgrading squads. NEVER waste weapon upgrades on a squad you intend to charge, chances are the squad will either die or be enganged in melee so they wont matter. Equipp your troops to deal with either light vehicles and infantry with grenade launchers, or plasma guns to fight heavy infantry.
2 squads of Guardsmen with Plasma guns will defeat 2 standard SM squads, I have seen it happen.
Lastly are leaders... use either Commissars or Priests for melee groups while using Psychers and Commissars for the ranged groups. If you are going to get elite infantry, save priests for them.
That about sums it up
