The funny thing is... 5,000 miles above the map would usually be in space. Good thing Blood Gulch is on Halo, thus placing me on the opposite side of the ring.

Bad news, Civ. 5000 miles up would still leave you over 1000 miles above the surface of the other side of Halo. Have fun in free-fall.
