The Catholic church actually destroyed the idea of Limbo/purgatory.

Are you talking to me? I did not say life sucks. I said that, in comparison to heaven, Earth is pretty crummy. Either way, it's better than hell, which is apparently where I'm going.

I was not referring to physical feelings, but thank you for the over-used analogy.
Kslidz, is seems to me that your main reason for having such opinions is your religion. Is religion really a viable bases for forming laws and regulations?

And then everyone was like "hey, wouldn't it be great if we separated the Church and state so we could stop fighting holy wars and burning people at the stake?"
Lets not pretend that religion in government is a good idea. k?

oh and dont forget lets implement killing old people cause they suck and try to implement rules to kill children up to the age of 2
im not saying america is like that but communist nations are like that and communism is obviously not religious besides the letter that is quoted for keeping church and state separate doesnt suggest keeping church out of government but government put of church
read it youll learn something

Re: Stem Cells
Recon, church is in our government already. Just look at the dollar bill! The thing you want to prevent, though, is the church ruling the government (which it hasn't done with any country for over 500 years).

Re: Stem Cells
-_-
You can't get rid of religion in government. Technically, atheism is a religion. So long as a majority of the people in this country are Christian, we will have a large Christian influence in our government. If that changes, so will the influence. It's just one of those things that comes with a democracy.

Re: Stem Cells
Is that the 'In God we trust?'
Our ten pound note has Darwin on it - stark contrast I guess.
Can't wholly agree on you that atheism is a religion though, Civ. Depends how you class it. If a religion is what you believe, then I guess so; but if religion requires rules and a belief system beyond a God or lack thereof (rules and such) then it doesn't really apply.

Re: Stem Cells
I consider a religion just to be a general belief system.
Yah, huge contrast, and that's because I'm sure there higher atheists percent in Britain than in the US.
