Heard about this.
So fucking amazing.
Hopefully it will be a lot better than Fallout 3.

Well, it certainly won't be a bad game if it's better than Fallout 3.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
So it's finally come back. Glad to see it's not im Cyrodil again, and we're going to a completely new area. (Skyrim is the home of the Nords after all).
Looks fun, but I hope it's not just Obivilion 2.0 as would tire of it quickly, as I played Obivilion to death.

I think Skyrim is a weird place to do it in though.Vigil wrote:And we're going to a completely new area
Considering that Skyrim is essentially all cold, snowy, mountainous terrain, which would really restrict variation of scenery for Bethesda.
It would be lame if every part of the map was pretty much exactly the same (Snowy, Cold, Montainous, etc...), and the cities architecture was all just an updated version of Bruma.
Anyway, still excited to explore it all.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
All Bethseda's recent games prove otherwise. Morrowind, Obivilion and Fallout 3 all followed the same formula. It's not going to do a Molyenux 180 on us.JumpingJet wrote:Hmmmm, we'll see...
As for the environment, quite a bit of Cryodil was large moutains and snowy paths, especially in some corners of the map. I'm sure it won't all look like Bruma, as we go south and east I'm sure it will warm up and level out.
Thankfully they announced that there using a brand new engine to run this, so we'll finally have an upgraded look and hopefully finally grind out those last naggling giltches the previous engine is infamous for.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
So? Are you really going to continue this Lionhead/Bethesda comparison?
Molyneux always promises the world and comes back with a disapointing mess of a game. I expect that shit from him.
Bethesda, when they actually make the game In-house always says the bare minimum and come out with very good games. Sure they do recycle a lot of things, like in obivilion a lot of geometry is repeated, mainly due to to how vast that world is. And their claim of over 300 endings for Fallout 3 was silly, but never downright lied and disapointed like lionhead have.

No, but one last point.

Which we have all seen.

All i am saying is that the market for RPG's is slowly gowing smaller, RPG's are just becoming less popular. Unless Bethesda can come out with one hell of an epic game in Skyrim then i think they are going to feel the pressure and revert to making it into an Action Adventure.

1. Most of my friends who prefered games like fable or Jrpgs quickly changed thier opinions when fallout 3 came out.
2. the Rpg community isn't shrinking at all its just the FPS community is growing faster and everyone cares more say Blackops than New-Vegas, Although people will still be playing new Vegas long after Cod 10.5 comes and goes.
3. Bethsda Rpgs are liked by alot more than just Hardcore RPG fans, you will find alot of "Cod fans" on youtube posting new vegas vids and there is always 2-3 diffrent people on my friends list playing Oblvion, Fallout or New Vegas.
4. Have you considered the fact that Bethesda Rpgs are built mainly for the PC and work best on the PC? the Fable games are built for "casual console gaming" if your basing your opinion on rpgs based on the console alone you are sadly mistaken
5. If the market is shrinking why the hell would they change the forumula that is making them more money than every other american rpg developer (besides maybe bioware) less competition= more $$$

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Everything that was in GameInformer on Skyrim was very impressive. I am a little concerned about one thing though, Bethesda said that (I think) there were 4 areas of main civilization one the map, with a big tundra in the middle. I'm concerned that the world may feel a little more... dead and less populated than Oblivion. I personally like seeing towns and people in RPGs, I don't like to be on my own for a long time.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I dont think it'll be barren tundra.
I dont know how long after TES IV this is taking place, but if i'm correct, most of the imperial legion was sent to Skyrim to fight the nords. I'm sure there will be many neat things in skyrim if not more than there were in Cyrodill.
