Re: Zombies
Only if you're working with a primitive gun-type uranium bomb. And even that is iffy. Besides, there are no more of those in the US stockpile.rzgrz wrote:seriously i know how to work dinamite and all it takes is a dinamite stick to set of a nuclear bomb. also yea i do also know how to run electrical wires and cameras. also the base is kinda run down anyways but its probly the best bet to go to find old stockes of ammo and explosives..
If you try it with a plutonium bomb or a thermonuclear warhead, all you'll get is a dirty bomb, a conventional explosion laced with radioactive materials.

Re: Zombies
Your best bets are to just sit tight for a few days and then make a plan.
Whatever plans you make will probably not survive the first day.

Re: Zombies
AmyHamza wrote:We were talking about zombies in the chatbox. I thought it would make a cool thread.
To start, the local TV and radio stations have gone out then you realize that there is a zombie group just outside town. What to do?
These are viral zombies.
- I would pack a radio, food, and neccessary equipment into my car. This takes about five minutes.
- I would then pick up two friends, one of whom hunts a lot. Additional survivors will have to exhibit no bite marks, and would have to either be hot chicks who know their way around guns, or ex-Marines toting large-caliber weaponry.
- An SUV will be taken, and we'll drive it out into the middle of a crop circle devoted to growing wheat. We may bring along my freind's ATV and motorcycle. Even his dune buggy, if he still has it.
- During the night, we will take inventory of our weapons. We may go back to my house to get propane equipment, siphon as much gasoline and diesel as possible, and get a shop vac. The shop-vac will be loaded with gasoline and used as a primitive flamethrower until we can get something better.
- After waiting a few days, we will begin raiding nearby canneries and food processing centers for food. Welding and machine tools will be taken in the SUV. We will try to steal an electric generator if we can find one, and take a pickup or two if they are left at the factories. All raiding teams will have to stick together and be well-armed.
- More and more supplies will have to be gathered. For the first two months, we will be living in a camper, which is mobil and can be quickly packed up.
- When the Zombies settle down and become organized, or at least predictable, we will begin raiding Ziggy's and Home Depot for concrete and lumber. Any more supplies will be liberated from housing developments.
- During a dry period, we will set fire to several cornfields, razing them to the ground and creating a wide open space where we can see incoming hostiles.
- Using designs liberated from the library, we will start constructing a bunker. Everyone must have a room to theirselves, a central room, and pillboxes from which we can defend the bunker.
- A garage will be build out of wood and corrugated steel, plentiful materials in my area. All vehicles will be parked in here, along with machine equipment.
- An escape tunnel will be built under the bunker, but this will be a long-term project.
- Using fertilizer and ammonia from the food plants, we will start mixing high explosives. Claymore mines will be created and ringed around the bunker, except for a single road into the place.
- I don't have much hope for acquiring heavy guns, or maintaining stocks of ammunition for more than a few weeks. Frames will be constructed on the fronts of vehicles, the better for ramming groups of zombies. Heavy weaponry will have to consist of potato guns loaded with homemade pipe bombs, or makeshift flamethrowers.
- Eventually, my plans call for the building of klieg lights and electric fences. However, we will have to make sure that vital equipment is always ready to go in case we are outnumbered.
AmyHamza wrote:new scenario
you're doing your plan whatever it is and then you are ambushed by zombies
(if you're in a shelter instead of on the move they broke through the defenses)
A certain member of every raiding team will always have a flamethrower handy. Escape routes will always be planned out ahead. We will have to stay away from large Zombie population centers until we have the resources to start slaughtering them.
In the bunker I hope to build, we will hopefully be able to lock everything down and be ringed in at all sides in concrete and iron plate. Tanks of ammonia will be strategically placed outside, ready to explosively decompress when neccessary. Hopefully, flameproof suits and breathing equipment can be liberated ahead of time. In such an event, we will hopefully be able to wait until the sun comes up.

Re: Zombies
......you just outlined my entire zombie plan Rasq. Or at least after the raid home dept part.
What state are you in? Cause I wouldn't mind saving your ass or vise-versa if you are near by lol.
The flamethrower I would not bring on raids though. They are heavey and useless. Zombies feel no pain so flamethrowers would just mean you have FLAMING flesh eating zombies after you. Having one to dispose of bodies around a base is alright though
Also you should look into making home made generators. Easy enough to do, just need a engine from a car or lawnmower

Re: Zombies
They feel nothing, they are only controlled by their need to feed.
No pain, thats why you see many with dissmembered limbs and no care about it.

Re: Zombies
Yeah, I live in the state of Washington. Eastern half, so it's desert and farmland out here. Lots of food, processing equipment, and the housing market out here is plentiful, so there's a lot of building materials.
Also, a flamethrower might not cause pain to them, but it will rapidly burn off flesh, cook the eyes, and burn the tendons and ligaments. And it's one of the few weapons I can think of that can be made around the house (or fallout shelter)
We'll also have to carry around a lot of pipe bombs. And how well do you think the water cannon on a fire truck would work?

Re: Zombies
I am no where near you at all lol.
Flame thrower may work, but still bring something else just in case kay?
Learning how to hotwire cars is also a good skill. Along with growing crops(and I mean seriously growing not just putting seeds in ground and watering them)
They don't flinch, that is just the recoil of getting hit by a bullet. They do not feel it.

Yeah, its supposed to be a squad support weapon. Others will have pipe bombs, or steel tubes capped at one end with explosives and gravel packed into it. Or two capped steel tubes loaded with solid shot connected by a wire.
Pheonix wrote:Learning how to hotwire cars is also a good skill.
Ok. But don't they have the keys at the car dealership?
Pheonix wrote:Along with growing crops(and I mean seriously growing not just putting seeds in ground and watering them)
Two steps ahead of you. There's a warehouse at work made from concrete. Its supposed to store and refrigerate huge boxes of peas, corn, and carrots. We just remove the boxes, take out the refrigeration equipment, fill it with heat lamps and fluorescent lamps from stores across town, haul in some piping, and we've got an armored hydroponics plant.
Also, we will be breeding dogs. Not only are these effective sentries, but we can take some, strap raw meat and dynamite to their backs, and send them into the zombie-infested slums.

Re: Zombies
Im still trying to work out how to get groceries up and down to my base which we knocked down the stairs too.
I was thinking a levy system to make a elevator kinda thing but I would need to figure out how I could load them without fear of being attacked.
Really depends on lay out of the aread and building though.

I live in a city so I'm pretty much screwed no matter what unless I can get out of town with some supplies and help real quick.
