Re: E3 2011 Megathread
Be advised: There was a miscommunication in the scheduling of the event, and on June 7, at 5:40-6:00PM PST, they accidenty hired the entire cast of Cats the musical to preform open heart surgery on orphaned babies while vomiting partially digested human remains/defecating green ooze on each other.
I strongly recommended that viewers turn of their TV sets, stop their live streams at this time and move to the nearest door frame during this period. If you should happen to catch a glimpse of the expo at this time, seek medical attention immediately for partial blindness and 2nd degree burns to the face and extremities.

Re: E3 2011 Megathread
the new nintendo console supposedly trumps both the 360 and the PS3 in graphics by a considerable amount.... its supposed to ahve better 3rd party support too, so there can be games on it OTHER than just games made by nintendo

So we're just all lieing in this thread now?
Re: E3 2011 Megathread
I heard that Microsoft and Sony are already writing their letters of surrender to Nintendo after they got a sneak peak at the new console.

Re: E3 2011 Megathread
Just watched the MW3 demo... spoiler alert, if you really care.
They blew up a sub and entered through a hatch at the top... then fought all the way through the sub to the control room... and then, after launching a bunch of missiles, they took a latter in the control room that led directly to the outside of the sub. Why didn't they just enter through that hatch in the first place!? Why fight through the sub!?
Also, after the epic boat chase (which involved driving the boat across the deck of a sinking aircraft carrier... wtf?) they got picked up by a troop helicopter that was hovering level with the water... never mind that they were about 200 feet from the shore and the waves should have been high enough to sink the helicopter, especially with all the exploding ships...
In the end, everything blew up. That's really all that mattered.
Ooo... the ME3 kinect support is actually really cool. They did exactly what they should have: they added squad commands with the kinect and retained controller-based combat and actions.
The new Ghost Recon kinect support looks like something that wont last. Interesting? Yes. Fun? Maybe for a while, but it's not something I foresee gamers enjoying in the long run.
Youtube! Yay!
XBL TV! Yay!
Bing! ....yay? I mean sure, I'm happy that there's browser support... but Bing? Come on MS, give it up. Bing will never compete with Google. You had to have made a partnership with Google of some sort in order to get YouTube, so hand over the search provider stuff too Google too. MS should have bigger fish to fry than the search provider market.

Re: E3 2011 Megathread
So, as some of you may know, I am again going to be attending e3 this year. My flight leaves in about three hours from now. The show floor opens up tomorrow. As before, I'll be broadcasting my thoughts as I go over my twitter, which hasn't seen any real use since last e3. And, as before, if there's anything you guys want me to pay special attention to, feel free to make requests here.

Im not joking... the new console is supposedly FAR ahead of anything Microsoft or Sony has in the works... you have to realize that Nintendo has the largest budget for a new console... since the wii made so much money and was so cheap to produce. The game disks are also appearenly Blue-ray, or the game equivalent of blue-ray

Blu-ray is a media disc not limited to movies. The only issue with nintendo using them is that its not an open-source media, so to speak. Nothing can be made commercially available on blu-ray without sony's permission.

Re: E3 2011 Megathread
I foresee MS's next project involving direct installation, D2D, or the cloud, making the quality of portable storage devises irrelevant.
I also can't imagine Nintendo coming out with a console more powerful than anything MS has in the works... considering their systems have always been significantly less powerful. They claimed the 3DS was gunna be this big state-of-the-art thing, but it doesn't even work 90% of the time, it looks like crap when it DOES work, and it often just gets in the way.

I didn't say more p[owerful than anything MS has in the works. But it is more powerful than the Xbox and PS3... and since neither Sony OR Microsoft are planning on releasing a new console for a few years (although this will probably change if the new Nintendo console does well) ... Nintendo will have a cornerstone in the market.
the new nintendo console will have the next Gears game on it.... THAT is the change of direction that nintendo has made.
and I would argue that Nintendo usually has one of the stronger consoles on the market, the Wii is the exception

What!? ok everybody time to stop making fun of nintendo for being a kiddy system.......
On a more serious note, if there is actually gonna be more 3rd party support for the New s nintendo system i'll probably get it, As long as they fix the rediculous friend code system they have.

Re: E3 2011 Megathread
Is that Gameboy supposed to be your controller? So... is this like a combination of the Kinect and DS?
The Wii U? So... We You? ...
...
Hold on just a tick... did KrAzY just say the new Gears of War will be on this thing? Well, bravo for Nintendo. They finally figured out that gamers desire far more than Wii Sports to maintain a fanbase. So long as they stay away from the trimmed-down games that the Wii always got, Nintendo might actually put themselves back up with Sony and MS.
They're gunna have a lot of work to do, though...

The Wii U sounds bad, hardware wise. (Only runs games at the level of Xbox 360 and PS3, which are both about 5 years old now)

Wii U left more questions then answears. But I like it. Looks good.
The announcement of certain 3DS games was also very cool.
I was satisfied with the big N's show this year.
