I thought E3 was shit this year, but do we have to seriously nitpick and find fault with the only thing that was even a worth a damn?
I understand pessism but for christ's sake this isn't anywhere near as bad as Halo Wars looked at E3 2008.

Re: Halo: Reach
E3 wasn't even that bad this year. Yeah Microsofts Kinect is not impressing anyone but Nintendo won everybodys hearts this year. I don't know about Sony as I failed to see their stuff. But, I think they're have been way worse E3's.
I speak for only myself when I say, It wasn't that bad. Becasue I love Nintendo.
Halo Reach is mediocre bullshit? Ha! Nice try.

Re: Halo: Reach
As promised, I'm home now, and so I should be writing a big post about how angry I am with Halo: Reach and the direction Bungie is going. However, it's nearly 1:30am, and my fucking sister didn't turn off my computer like I asked (it was uploading my Dropbox and I couldn't turn it off when I left; I asked her to turn it off in an hour), so my PC has been running nonstop for the last week. My mouse is almost completely unusable, and I'm exhausted.
So for now, I'll leave you with this. You lot keep saying that we know so little about Halo: Reach, and so we shouldn't complain. I would like to contend that we know so little about Halo: Reach, and already, there are many red flags popping out. If this ratio continues, the game will be worse than I anticipated. So fuck off or apply logic to the situation. I mean, do you honestly think Bungie is going to release all the bad stuff to the press? Does that even seem possible to you, that Bungie happened to release every bad aspect of the game into a tiny tidbit of information running the length of two short trailers? Of course not! And if I'm this fucking mad over two trailers, I can't imagine what the final product will be like.
Tomorrow, if I wake up before noon, I'll write up a nice big post about all the stuff I'm upset about. I went over a handful of it with Vigil on CB today, but I'll make sure to take the time to go into the full weight of the argument when I post. Would have posted earlier, but GamersVerse news takes precedence. That is, after all, what got me into e3.

Since they've done a pretty good job at making the Elite game play a unique experience, maybe they intend on making a Covenant firefight, where you face off against wave after wave of UNSC units.

Re: Halo: Reach
That would be so cool. Seeing as how this is Bungie's last Halo game, I don't think it's too far out of the question. I mean GoW3 is going to have that with Beast mode.Ringleader wrote:Since they've done a pretty good job at making the Elite game play a unique experience, maybe they intend on making a Covenant firefight, where you face off against wave after wave of UNSC units.
To have the entire package with Reach as far as the way the modes can be played such as the way you suggested and many others, it only makes sence. Hopefully it happens, but as Vigil said too let's not set our hopes "too" high.

Pete wrecking the rental car on the first day, getting a parking ticket, and then trying to tip the hotel valet with a sweet Reach t-shirt. (The valet was NOT impressed. Cash only, please.)
Steven Spielberg and his son getting some hands on time with the Sabre. Awesome.
Keighley joking that it was his early interview with Marcus that ultimately resulted in Reach’s space combat.
“Brian’s Game.” He came, he saw, he did NOT press ass to porcelain inside the facilities at the Convention Center. The guy is a machine.
Getting a massive nostalgia hit checking out the newTwisted Metal.
Saying what’s up to the boys working the En Masse Entertainment booth. Tera looks hot. Good luck with the launch, guys!
Lars’ endless grin after the Firefight reveal went down and players refused to give up their seats during the first hands-on demos.
The mad dash Escape from LA with Tung at the wheel and Sketch taking point on navigation duty. E3’s five o-clock conclusion coupled with Lakers madness made for a harrowing exodus, but we got out alive and got back to Seattle unscathed.
Seeing the life-sized Noble Team statue first hand.
Being trapped on the plane ride home between a guy who was snoring before all the bags were stowed and a dude whose funky breath had me reaching for the vomit bag.
Guys with big sacks. For swag.
Talking to MJW (you know who you are) outside the airport lounge and being totally grateful for his kind words after we reluctantly agreed to let him pick up our tab. Thanks for playing, Michael! You’ve got swag inbound. Wish we could do more.

Re: Halo: Reach
They finally realized the first game is an almost a perfectly crafted masterpiece thats success is owed to many core principles abandoned in the sequels.
If you think the skull adds some sort of depth to the character or looks bad ass, then you must have some kind of soft, squishy brain, flaming skulls and electric guitars are not what makes halo cool, I regret to inform. I personally don't think that the skull is a big deal, but I will not change my opinion on the matter, and it wasn't those who had originally pointed out this particular discrepancy that blew the whole issue WAY OUT OF PROPORTION.
The Sabre IS a big deal however, because it leaves such a huge gap in the continuity and logic the developers have been building for the last 10 years, because it takes all the realistic, bulky, utilitarian design concepts, and takes a big dump on them, and because it generally leaves a very sour taste in your mouth after watching it barrel roll and shoot THE BIG FOUR missles, and the SHIELD POWER UP GENERATOR UNITS.
Let me explain, I would much rather fly around in a Longsword with really big ass, heavy duty guns. I would, because it would be cooler to expereince the game from a vulnerable position, flying around in an all powerful, highly maneuverable and generally superior space vehicle doesn't exactly lend credence to the whole 'making the best of what you got-back against the wall-outmanned-outgunned-doomed' state that made being the last hope for humanity, such a glorious title.
...because you aren't the last hope of humanity if humanity has the capacity to whoop your enemies asses in space as well as on the ground through superior technology, that was like, cornerstone to the whole story!
Space Jets are cool, but DO NOT belong in Halo, I think that's a pretty reasonable, and obvious conclusion to reach. Yes, I do believe many of you are being overprotective of the franchise. I love Halo, but I'm not confused nor ashamed to admit what it has become over the years. Not seeing the drastic changes that have occurred to the general design and gameplay philosophies over the course of the series is just plain naive. It's comical how many groups of people they are trying to sell this game to, I mean, they even admit to this in the dev videos!: "Oh, well, we tried to make things not to upset too many people." That's a pretty clear translation, it means they are trying to sell it to every human being on the planet with a pulse while not delivering a full video game experience to any particular group (I'm using hyperbole to stress my points in case you haven't noticed), but, I digress. In conclusion, I think it will be a good game, still falling short of the original, but at least attempting to duplicate the successful overtone of the original Halo.
The Covenant not speaking English is the tip of the iceburg, there are SO many things they could and should do to amend the mistakes of the sequels, such as not personalizing the Spartans (professional soldiers), and certainly not flying around in some cartoon anime jet fighter that meta-morphs into a Sepuku Hakitimanji® with TURBO BOOSTERS©. Many potential improvements, are, as the article aptly pointed out, cosmetic changes, like, why not simply erase the scratches on the helmet? I honestly don't think it's that big a deal, because it really won't change the story or gameplay but it doesn't really add anything to the game, does it? Arguably, it detracts from the logic and realism of the game. Of course the Covenant not speaking English is a cosmetic change to the designers, but to us, it represents a step in the right direction for Bungie. While it may seem like a rather cosmetic change, this creative decision represents a maturity in Bungie's storytelling abilities.
