Civilization V

Looking amazing. Hexagon sqaures, downloading mods without leaving the game, and improved graphics. The community being the prime of this game.
Coming in Sept.

Re: Civilization V
Can't wait. Hopefully the one unit per tile and long shooting will make combat better.
Do you play civ 4 then?
'JS: [One of our] major goals with Civ V is that the game be accessible to more people than the previous Civ games.'
Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! While not necessary a bad thing, I don't think I have to explain why it is. Especialy when backed up by:
' The thought process we want to promote is "What cool new effect do I want?" rather than the feeling of needing to perform detailed analysis to determine if switching is a good idea.'
'where the game's new, slimmer interface with lessons picked up from Civilization Revolution was first shown,'
Civ's complexity is what makes it so great. It's the reason I'm still loosing on Emperor after building up one difficulty level at a time.
EDIT: 'We also have options to turn on more advanced user interface settings, so we're trying to be mindful that some people do want more on the screen.' Ok maybe it'll be fine.

Re: Civilization V
I've never played a Civ game or even watched someone else play, but I've heard great things and I think I'll get this once it's released.
PC only?
I'm fine with getting it for my computer... but nobody else every plays computer games, so I never have anyone to play against >.<

Re: Civilization V
Only one of my friends actually plays video games regularly - Tex the monkey - and he never gets anything for his computer.
Re: Civilization V
I have played Civilization III and I loved it. Now this one doesn't really interest me AT ALL. I would be fine and dandy playing a sims game or the standard AoE or RCT2...But that's just me. Maybe someone could like this game but I would think that it would be the same as Civilization III with more added features (Like every other sequel game right?)

Re: Civilization V
I got back into Civ 4 again. It's pretty awesome.
Maeve - you HAVE to try Civ 4. I was introduced to the series in Civ 3 by a friend and now both of us find it almost unplayable.
I know what you mean about sequels, but Civ has changed a lot. Give 2 a shot and see if you liek that as much. Just from the combat in Civ 5 I can tell it's going to be an utterly different game. So you know, try it already!

Re: Civilization V
Well, still...I sometimes feel like that once you play one game, then all the other knock-offs feel the same. Like, this Medieval game that had the single turn game play like Civ III and the character designs and action like AoE was really shitty to me. If I wanted to play a game like Civ III or AoE, I would play it...I wouldn't waste $20 on a game that I already have.
But...either way...I can say I'll try it but there's no way that I'm going to stop typing right now and drive up to Best Buy, waste even more of the little money I already have just to try a game with the same basic concept as the squeal or the original for that matter.

Re: Civilization V
I think that Civ 2 and 4 were far better than Civ 3 was.
<3 civII
I made a LotR mod for it hehe
speaking of which, I loved that it made changing the files and sprites so accessible and easy

Re: Civilization V
Just PC, like everyother real Civ game.Avenged wrote:Is this just for PC or is it coming to the 360 like the last one
I don't count Civ Rev since it's practically a casual game when compared to the other Civ games.
Re: Civilization V
What do people think?
I'm having real trouble understanding how science works. The removal of the slider is bizarre. But the army system is great. Can't wait to play more than 100 turns!

Re: Civilization V
When I last checked you were a person not a game.Avenged wrote:What do you mean I wasn't a real civ game?
Anyways tt's like Civ without any real diplomacy. You're only getting about half the game you should on the console version of Civ Rev. You can play it about one or two times but there's no real replay value because you're so limited in what you can do.

33 minutes...
This has been the longest hour of my life. The fact I'm 6 pop tarts and 8 mugs of tea deep doesn't help.
