From Alaska to New Zealand - Signups
I'm working on creating a forum game, and wanted to see how many people would be interested in playing. I'll take as many as are willing to play.
Setting
The game is set in 1935, just before World War II begins. The game will include the entire world, except for Antarctica. The world is divided into countries, and further into regions. Control of regions will be denoted by colors.
Factions
All players will be part of one of seven factions: France, Nazi Germany, the Kingdom of Italy, Empire of Japan, the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
Players
Each player within a faction will play the role of some historic figure. Who each player plays as is up to me, though I will take into consideration preferences. There are three basic types of historic figures: political leaders (each faction has one, except for the UK, which has several extra for autonomous colonies) which are in charge of the overall military strategy of the faction as well as for the economy and diplomacy aspects of the game, military leaders (each faction has one for each branch of its military) which are responsible for all macromovements of forces within their branch, and military offices (each faction will have lots of these) which are in charge of micromanaging military forces under their command. All historical figures not played by players will be NPCed by myself. All communications between historical figures will go through me.
It is important to note that which historical figure a player plays as is strictly between me and that player. No other player is to know who that player is playing as. In this way, out of character communication will be completely impossible. Any attempt to find out who another player is will be strictly banned, and if I find out about it, I will throw the offending player(s) out of the game. In fact, if I find out that one player asked another who he/she was, and the second player didn't report the first, I'll throw both players out of the game. I understand that this is very harsh, but it is imperative to the gameplay that no player talks out of character to another player.
I will also note that players in the officer position are not bound by the orders of military leaders and political leaders, nor are players in the military leader position bound by the orders of political leaders. However, higher ranked historical figures do have the right to reprimand lower ranked historical figures for disobedience.
Combat
Officers will be in charge of micromanaging actual combat. I intend for the game to not be played in real time, and for combat to thus be realistic without having to take weeks/months of actual real time to complete. Combat will primarily be composed of officers giving orders to the units under their command.

With your track record, lax, I'm betting that the first attempt to establish communication gets you reported and thrown out of the game, because if you don't get reported, knowing how "subtle" you are, I'd find out about it sooner or later and throw you and whoever didn't report you out, and with that in mind, no one would fail to report you.
