Risk III - Signups
Basics
The game board was designed by me to hold up to ten people. We will not excede that number for functionality purposes. The game will be played in Real-Time verses Turn-Based. Basically, depending on the phase, all players will PM me their moves within a certain deadline, and then I will update the map.

Rules
Reinforcement Phase: Each player receives one unit for each territory he or she owns, plus any continent bonuses. Each player can then place any number of units on any territory that player owns.
Attack Phase: Each player can attack any bordering territories from his or her own territories, but must leave 1 unit behind to retain ownership of the territory that player is attacking from. All of the players' attacks will occur at the same time, so each player only gets one invasion, in which the player predicts one territory he or she will take and then places an attack from it to another enemy territory before the attacks are rolled and the results known. If that player predicts wrong, the invasion does not occur. Each territory involved in an attack gets one six sided die. The attackers always work as a team, and take one unit from the defender for every roll above the defender's roll. If the defender's roll is higher than all attackers, the attackers each lose one unit. In the event of a tied roll, the defender has the advantage. In Boarder Clashes and Spoils of War, there is no advantage.
Tactical Move Phase: Each player gets to choose one territory with more than one unit on it, and then can send all but one unit to any neighboring territories owned by that player. The player can send units to multiple territories from one source, but cannot send units to one territory from multiple sources.

Re: Risk III - Signups
Meh... I thought about doing this a while ago, but it'll go way to slow. I think I'll stick to the strategy game network.
BTW, good game yesterday.

Re: Risk III - Signups
Of course it will go slow, Civ. My game is slower paced to give players time for strategy and the like. I don't like the traditional Risk because, as we saw yesterday, it just turns into a take-turns-controlling-most-of-the-world game. Asia changed hands thrice in a three-player game in the same round. There's something wrong with that.

Re: Risk III - Signups
That is mostly due to the cards. I do agree that those should be limited more in the game.Rotaretilbo wrote:Of course it will go slow, Civ. Re: Risk III - Signups
Oh fine. Sign me up.
Are you going to update the board after each action, each move, or never?
How will moves work? We obviously can't resolve each and every action in real time like we can in the actual game.
And who gets the dice? Or has LP figured out that dice BBCode that he was messing with a few months ago?

Re: Risk III - Signups
Well, you see, Civ, I'm not a player. I am the host, so you'll send actions to me, and I'll be rolling all the dice. I'll update the board after each phase, since all actions in each phase occur simultaneously.

Re: Risk III - Signups
That's called a border clash. Neither side gets defender's advantage, winner continues on to attack.
Anyway, we're finally ready to start. Now, here's what I need you all to do. I need you to take the 120 territories, and reorder them from most wanted to least wanted (this is effectively land grab). Do the same with colors (here are your choices):
Red
Blue
Green
Yellow
Orange
Purple
Pink
Brown
Gray
Black
