I don't care Gauz. I hate your music too.
And yes people do. I saw them live last year. Yes, they are scary in person. O_0
But I care more for the music rather then the vocals. But I don't hate the vocals either.

Actually, most bands in that genre do it simply to get reaction etc. Like the band Slayer. There music is all about Satanism but none of them believe it it. But then there are some bands that do and they show it. I try to stay away from those. They actually do scare the be-jebus out of me. O_O
Well, now that I've givin' you that pointless metal lesson, don't you feel better?

But here's some advice from someone whose been there. Seventeen doesn't feel different from sixteen, eighteen doesn't feel different from seventeen, and Twenty-One probably won't feel different from twenty.
It's what you do that makes it special, so go out and have fun.
And when you're eighteen, go buy yourself a pack of cigarettes. Same principle as buying a bottle of beer on your twenty-first.
Oh, I plan to go have fun. I don't plan on buying cigarettes or beer though. That stuff just doesn't do it for me.
But anyway, thanks
dont really need a pack of cigarettes when your 18, but a victory cigar might do. Or, if your in cali, you can go get a medical marijuana card.
as for beer. . . . how can you have a 21st birthday without beer?
oh, and if it makes you feel better, i just turned 16 and i havent even started any of my drivers shit yet

Re: Here's to year 17...
I honestly don't know why they prevent people under the age of 18 buying cigarettes. It's just such a stupid law.
Anyway, the only years that really matter and are worth noting are 18 and 21. The rest are sorta just insignificant. I told my sister that when she turned 19, and I don't think she appreciated it.

i think its a fine law. Helps (not much, but it does) keep stupid little teenagers like me from buying and smoking them just to be cool around their friends, when really there just killing themselves without even thinking about it. I think it should be 19 to assure that you out of high school and out of that little stage with all the peer pressure and trying to be cool around your friends.

If you want to discourage peer pressure you're better off banning all clothing and forcing people to wear uniforms all the time.
Anyway, the difference between the effect of smoking on a 16 year old compared to an 18 year old would be totally insignificant. And going back to NT's argument about marijuana legalisation, it encourages criminal behaviour and business with shifty people in order for people under the age of 18 to obtain cigarettes.
And a query, who here has actually had a cigarette, in the presence of friends and/or family?

Except that clothing only causes cancer in mice.
Ziggy wrote:Anyway, the difference between the effect of smoking on a 16 year old compared to an 18 year old would be totally insignificant.
The law was set to 18 not because cigarettes magically are healthier once you turn 18, but because at 18, you are considered mature enough to make rational decisions. Why the government ever thought that there would be people who were 18 and were also completely capable of making rational decisions is beyond me. Were it my choice, I'd set the smoking and drinking age to 26.
Ziggy wrote:And going back to NT's argument about marijuana legalisation, it encourages criminal behaviour and business with shifty people in order for people under the age of 18 to obtain cigarettes.
However, this argument fails with cigarettes for two reasons. One: getting cigarettes is a lot easier than getting illegal drugs, and doesn't necessitate a drug dealer. Two: if cigarettes were legalized, they would become far easier to obtain, and, due to their inherently addictive nature, would result in far more teens being addicted to cigarettes.
Ziggy wrote:And a query, who here has actually had a cigarette, in the presence of friends and/or family?
I certainly haven't.
Re: Here's to year 17...
Considering that my friends who smoke mostly buy them off some really fucking scummy people, I would say that it does encourage dodgy behavior to some extent.
Also, don't you think that smoking should be a personal choice? If somebody wants to smoke, so be it. It doesn't effect their behaviour and interactions with other people, so why should it be of any concern to others? Apart from second hand smoke of course, which can be prevented by not smoking near people who aren't smoking, I don't see any problem. It's a life choice. It's like sunbaking. Going off your implications, it sounds like you may as well ban sunbaking because it causes cancer. You know how many teenage girls sunbake? Or banning coconut oil because it encourages people to sunbake, therefore increasing the chance of cancer.
And of the people that I do know who smoke, including the rare smoke myself, it's nothing more than a couple of cigarettes at a party, or when we go out anywhere which isn't exactly every day. I've only met one pack-a-day smoker who was a teenager and she was pretty messed up and trashy anyway.
Anyway, if you like a nice strong espresso or any other coffee, you'd probably like cigarettes. They give you that sorta kick, and it isn't too bad.
