EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
The Empire: Total War demo is out EXCLUSIVELY ON STEAM BITCHES!
The demo features a couple tutorials, and 2 historic battles. Unfortunately, the Demo does not show off the campaign map, but rather, sticks to the real-time battles.
For all you doubters of Steam, this is only the beginning. Get on your knees, and take it.

Re: EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
Technically, we do have Steam on our computer.
But I don't know if Korn has an account on it.

Re: EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
I don't give a fuck about steam, but the demo is fucking awesome!
It is decided, Empire Total War is fap material.
It is decided, Empire Total War is fap material.
Re: EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
Dammit! Well, at least your forced to download steam when you install DOW2.
Re: EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
Like EVERY other Total War demo it only comes with two historical battles, but I can't stop playing them. Has anyone found the difficulty control buttons?
Re: EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
While it is certainly the awesomeness I was expecting, if not better, if you pay attention it is pretty glitchy, and the sound seems pretty unbalanced compared to med 2. If you look closely you can see signs of a rushed game...
But it's awesome.
But it's awesome.
Re: EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
Fucking awesome. That sums up this game. Played my first game, and barely lost. Outflanked by dragoons and pounded to death by cannons. To make a painful story short, I was routed.
Re: EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
Steam says I have 5.8 hours of the demo in less than two days, that's commitment for you.

Take into account that more than half of that time was spent in load screens.

It is.
Your point?

Re: EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
Steam is free. and ETW is making learn new tactics. No more mindlessly wasting cav while theyre probing their defenses anymore.
@recon: Well, that is true. But it's still awesome.

It is.
My point? I don't have to be a steam nerd to google steam, download it, and then download the game. It's not really exclusive if everyone can get it for free. I have no steam games, but I'm downloading the demo right now.
Re: EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
I have a steam game and a steam demo. civ, he meant that you can only dl it on steam. So it's exclusive TO steam.

You just cited the EXACT reasoning as to why exclusivity on a free system is still important. You did not even have Steam on your computer, but now that you saw the ETW demo EXCLUSIVELY on it, you went out and downloaded it.
Now you have it on your system, and are much more likely to take advantage of its community features. If you buy ETW, you may take notice of Steam's weekend deals. You might purchase your first Steam game, as it may be on sale for only 5 dollars.
Eventually you may start to buy full-priced games on Steam. Digital Distribution accounts for around 50% of PC game sales. Steam, touting 15 million users, is the most active of distributors.
Exclusives expand their consumer-base. That's why it's important.

And if I only wanted the demo I'd just install Steam, download the demo, and then uninstall Steam.

Except you need Steam to launch it...
Steam is not just a program, or a store. It's a platform. Xboxlive is to Xbox as Steam is to PC

Re: EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
Please do not turn this awesomeness into yet another steam argument, and that is directed at everyone.

You're my hero, Toaster. Well... after a week of holidaying I will now sack off work in favour of many hours of Total War.

Re: EMPIRE TOTAL WAR DEMO
Then I could just uninstall it when I'm done with the demo. Steam really isn't that big of a deal.ReconToaster wrote:Civ wrote:Umm... no, I already had it on my computer.

My God, there's enough tea and crumpets in that sentence to make Chuck Norris wince!
