music you listen to?

i did a search of "music" and got nothing so meh
what kind of music do you guys listen to out of curiosity

I imagine a thread about what music we listen to would probably be buried in the media section somewhere. Nevertheless.

I listen pretty much all kinds of music.

My car radio is set to Christian rock, but passanger has free reign of what station we listen to, due to my lack of preference. Thus, I listen to a lot of rock and rap when someone else is in my car with me. The music on my computer is primarily comedy (a mix of Weird Al and Jonathon Coulton), accented with some classic rock (like Guns 'n' Roses), progressive metal (Threshold), techo (Lautsprecher), and oldies (such as Beatles). My Pandora Station is Weird Al, but also picks up stuff by Jonathon Coulton and Bare Naked Ladies. I've only ever been to two concerts. I saw Weird Al at the Arizona State Fair, and Brad Praisley on his Time Well Wasted tour. I enjoyed both immensely.

I think the only music I don't like is Lil Wayne. Something about his voice just disgusts me. Not sure what it is, but I just don't like the sound of his voice at all. Oh, and Ramstein. A fw of their songs are ok, but most of their songs are disgusting as fuck. I hate that so many people listen to their music and haven't a clue what they're actually saying (due to them singing primarily in German; I don't mind screamo and metal where it's hard to make out the words) Of all music, I probably like rap the least, probably because it comes off as unnecessarily vulgar and the themes seem to revolve around having lots of money, sex, and drugs, but not all rap falls under this net, and even then, I rather like the beat.

Tbh, G'n'R's isn't really Classic Rock. More of a hair band.

Anyways, I listen to a lot of Classic Rock (Ex: The Jimi Hendrix Experience, , .38 Special, Norman Greenbaum, Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, etc.)

But I also love 90's Grunge like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, etc.

Also, classical or movie scores aren't bad either.

I normally listen to quite a lot of metal rock mainly...

Avenged Sevenfold...

But i can kill for a bit of Lady Gaga sometimes.
Plus i hate to say it but i've been born into a family who love Robbie williams so i have grown up with him, so he's grown on me.
I like Orson, the small time band before they split up.
Arctic Monkeys...

It really depends on what sort of mood i am in.

I mostly listen to Metal and Mock. Pretty much any variation of the two. Metal is the most I listen to.

I'm starting to spread my tastes though, I like some stuff by other genres like say the Gorillaz.

Even softer stuff like Say Anything.

I listen to everything besides hardcore rap and screamo.

But i prefer to listen to house/club music.

Tiesto (Favorite!), Paul Van Dyk, Deadmau5, DJ Coone, David Guetta, and Daft Punk.

I also listen to some rock like System of a Down and Metallica and some softer rock like Talking Heads and Sportfreunde Stiller.

Then, the off beat stuff, which is reserved for one artist. Weebl's Stuff.

hmmm seem a bit of a outcast here lol.i mainly listen to underground rap, old skool rap, gangster rap, r n b but i also love daft punk, pendulum and a bit of prodigy.

I listen to metal and rock, and occasionally rap.

rap (mostly eminem), party music, pop, and anything that has a good beat or lyrics with a lot of meaning behind them.

Metal, rock, classical, 70's, basically everything lol

i listen to alot of rock or metal(all sorts) but i also listen to some rap/hiphop techno/dance and oldies even some blues and jazz

I like the Barenakedladies the most out of any band, next would be skillet and then breakin benjimin.

Other than that, I listen to whatever sounds good to me, which is almost all music (well, except Ke$ha, then again, nothing she does is considered music...)

Basically nothing you guys listen to.

HIM is my favourite for now, and I also like System of a Down, Smashing Pumpkins, and all the generic Metal Bands like Metallica. I also kinda like The Fall of Troy, to a lesser degree though.

Even thought I really like metal, and some rock, and really hate rap and hip hop, I think Rap is better than bands like Knickelback, they disgrace rock.
Also bands like Slipknot disgrace metal.

3 things wrong there...

1. Metallica is not generic

2. It's Metallica not Metalica (edit: but you fix'd it)

3. Slipknot doesn't disgrace anything, especially not a music genre.

Yea, Slipknots good, but Stone Sour is better IMO.

Classic rock is by far the most predominant thing I listen to.

However, I see examples of trance, pop, other-kinds-of-techno-that-I-never-bothered-learning-the-names-of, soundtracks from various movies ranging from old westerns to modern suspense, hiphop, rock, metal, surf-guitar, TVthemes

Classic Rock and classical music is what I mainly listen to. I also listen to a little metal, Austrian Death Machine(How can you not like a band who spews Arnie quotes at random?) and Sabaton(Not sure if they are really metal, but w/e.)

KiD CuDi and Lupe Fiasco are really good rappers imo. My current personal favorites.

I set my car radio to either STAR, Capitol, or The Bus...maybe even Lazar or that Christan station (Gotta love Iowa). But it's almost always on STAR. That plays mostly pop rock, has some new songs...but doesn't miss a beat to play those good old songs that I love like Push by Matchbox20. Capitol is very similar to STAR so I just flip between the two. The Bus I love at work. It plays old songs my mom might have listened to in the 80's (yes, she's old) plus some present day stuff. Lazar and Life or whatever...doesn't really suit me, but I leave them there if friends wanna listen to it.

I was in the process of moving it when I decided it should stay here. The media section was created for discussion about specific songs, videos, etc. This, however, is a discussion about music in general, so I think fits best in the discussion forum.


Back on the topic. I don't like to judge music based on genre so, as a result, I have a very wide taste in music. HOWEVER... I have a strong tendency to dislike rap and screamo.

You do realize that most of these guys have no idea what those are, right? Most of those radio stations only reach out about 200-some miles - well within Iowa's borders.
