In other words, I DON'T CARE ABOUT RAP! I think it was the stupidest thing ever made when black men (and white men) talking about how many women they have had sex with or will have sex with or trash talking about shit no one cares about! It's really a bunch of bullshit.
CivBase wrote:Maeve wrote:I set my car radio to either STAR, Capitol, or The Bus...maybe even Lazar or that Christan station (Gotta love Iowa). But it's almost always on STAR. That plays mostly pop rock, has some new songs...but doesn't miss a beat to play those good old songs that I love like Push by Matchbox20. Capitol is very similar to STAR so I just flip between the two. The Bus I love at work. It plays old songs my mom might have listened to in the 80's (yes, she's old) plus some present day stuff. Lazar and Life or whatever...doesn't really suit me, but I leave them there if friends wanna listen to it.
You do realize that most of these guys have no idea what those are, right? Most of those radio stations only reach out about 200-some miles - well within Iowa's borders.
I realize that, which is why I told what genre they play instead of just naming off the stations. Dur da dur!

How much rap have you listened to? I hate that crap to...my three favorite KiD CuDi songs are Up Up and Away (which is about enjoying life and seperating himself from stupid things like trash talk), Day 'N Nite (which is about someone being corrupted and brought down) and The Prayer (which is about making amends for all the crap he has done).Maeve wrote:

Re: music you listen to?
The closest thing to rap that I have listened to was Eminem. And even him I don't care for that much with a few great songs here and there. Rap bugs me. I really hate it. And behind all the cussing and dissing everything in the world, it's still retarded.TNine wrote:How much rap have you listened to? EDIT:
Also, that KiD CuDi thing...whatever...Bottom right corner "Parental Advised"...hmm...Other than that ONE song that is actually considered pop, not rap, is one where he actually sings out of how many on the CD is just one monotonous voice rapping?
EDIT AGAIN:
Also, good rap is old school rap

Listen to Run DMC.
They were a clean rap group.
(Read the Lyrics to "Its like that" teaches a life lesson)
Hell DMC stands for never Dirty Mostly Clean.

He says "fuck" and "nigger" in the middle verse, if you must know. It's still a good song.Maeve wrote:

The verses are primarily beat-driven rather than melody driven, and KiD CuDi doesn't change tone very often. It's rap with hip-hop in the chorus, which is generally what KiD CuDi does.Maeve wrote:Other than that ONE song that is actually considered pop, not rap
Well, it's Man on the Moon...so none of them. That i know of. Most of them have a melodic chorus and beat-driven verses. That's why i like KiD CuDi.Maeve wrote:is one where he actually sings out of how many on the CD is just one monotonous voice rapping?
On the other hand, i realized Lupe Fiasco is, in fact, Hip Hop.

So what you're saying is that cussing, no tone change, and a driving beat is what makes a good rap?
Stop denying. Today's rap is a bunch of crap. Why kids listen to it? I don't know. You are one of those kids I question. Why can't you listen to NORMAL music?

That's why there's hip hop from unknown artists (with clean lyrics about actual stuff), and a melody!!!

Music is music. There is no normal music, because no matter what, there will ALWAYS be people who enjoy it. Its just preferences and opinions that brand certain types of music.

Re: music you listen to?
Uh, no....where did i say that?Maeve wrote:
So what you're saying is that cussing, no tone change, and a driving beat is what makes a good rap?
Cussing adds emphasis, like it does in all music. And like other forms of music, it is great to drive home a point. Rappers just generally use more of it. Doesn't make their music better or worse.
Driving beat is what makes good rap, yes. A good driving beat in a rap song is like a good melody in other songs. It does a lot.
Rapping is speaking in beat. There is tone change, it just isn't as pronounced as singing, but it usually isn't in monotone. Do you speak in monotone? Beyond that, a lack of singing doesn't make good rap...it makes rap. It is to rap what guitars are to Rock. If you are singing for an entire rap song, it can't be defined as a rap song.
Are you flaming me for the music i listen to? Besides, there is no "normal" music...Rock and Roll is not normal, Pop is not normal, the only "normal" music i can think of is classical music.Maeve wrote:Stop denying. I agree with TNine. Listen to B.o.B. (some just consider him hip-hop but he has some good rap), Gorillaz (Rock The House and Clint Eastwood come to mind), Eminem, or Jay-Z.TNine wrote:How much rap have you listened to? Re: music you listen to?
Like I said before, I'm starting to turn around to SOME Rap and other music. But still, for the most part, I don't really like it.
Rap I mean.
Eminem is one that sometimes sounds good when I'm at work and it's playing on the speakers in the store. It's alright, but I'm probably not gonna be buying it anytime soon.
I like the Beastie Boys!

Gorillaz is a lot of different genres. They have rap on a lot of songs though. Rock The House, Clint Eastwood, Superfast Jellyfish, and On Melancholy Hill are my favorites.TNine wrote:lol. That's my pandora radio station.Carlos Spicyweiner wrote:
