Re: Halo Movie
I really liked Silent Hill. Never played the game though.
Final Fantasy films (don't forget advent children) were good too.
Also Resident Evils were good if you took them to be shitey action/sci fi films.

They did the Halo Legends episode: The duel.

Doom was not good. The only thing I saw that had something to do with doom was the BFG.

OK. Remove the crap that Ewe Boll did. And remove the movies based on fighting movies (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat) because those things never had a story to begin with. Same with Doom.Vigil wrote:Super Mario Bros

Resident Evil: Afterlife( Not out yet, but still 99% likehood it will suck)
That is every single internationally distributed Video game movie in chronological order. Only about 4-5 are okay.
Prepare for a bigger rapeage than even the worse parts of Halo Wars, Legends, Evolutions and Reach combined.
And pray my friends. Pray that it never comes.
And the ratio of good/crap improves.
I'd say that a Halo movie would have a better chance of being a good movie than, say, Resident Evil, but I keep my hopes down unless Peter Jackson (or maybe Christopher Nolan) direct.
As for Final Fantasy: Spirits Within...
Piece of crap. It was a failure as a story and as a movie.
That was the same studio, different team. They also did "Homecoming," which was better. Still screwed canon, but I'd gladly consider it an AU story.Vigil wrote:You do realise the already have done A halo thing Onyx?

I've watched a few popular animes, and the only one that comes visually close to the way Halo should look is GitS, GitS:SAC, and GitS:SAC:2ndGIG.
Very true. Very very true.KrAzY wrote:writing a movie is ENTIRELY different than writing a book... movies are visual media, which means that a lot of info that can easily be communicated by text, cannot be communicated easily in the movie
However, since movies are a visual medium, they can set tone and describe set much easier than a book can. And I'd KILL to get some of the fight scenes from Isolation done by a major studio.

well and like that one scene in the within the last 30 minutes that the game actually looked doomish.
If they shot the whole movie like that, killed the storyline with a BFG and just turned everyone who wasn't the main character into a redshirt or zombie the movie could have been good.

If they do have the big MC in the movie, as long as he has the voice actor from the games and a guy just wears the suit i'll be fine with it.

Everyone says that, but I still disagree.
I liked it at the time, and it pretty much cured my aversion to realistic-movie gore.
Plus, the first person sequence was pretty cool.

You weren't in the CB when I said this (Tim was the only one there, and I don't even think he was online), but there are two things I cannot stand in movies:
1. Killing off women.
2. Killing off children.
Back when I hated the Japanese, I could dehumanize them to a frightening degree, but I just can't do that with a film (or most video game cutscenes, or book scenes, but especially movies). After I see it happen, it's almost like PTSD, with me having randomly triggered flashbacks to the moment.

Then you can't see pretty much ANY movie besides Comedies and Documentaries(unless your also afraid of watching female salmon getting killed from bears)
Any movie that deserves watching has both men AND women dying in it.

yea... I don't like seeing children getting killed... but women die in everything, so thats really not a taboo issue at all
wouldn't a zombie movie be weird as fuck with no women or children zombies though?

It's not so much that I find it's an issue that ruins movies, I just don't like seeing it. Especially the ones that insist on doing it in increasingly vile and...creative ways.
KrAzY wrote:

I once had an idea for a game (back when I still thought I'd own my own video game design company one day...) in which you played a security guard on a ship in the Carribean, carrying nothing but dead male convicts from Cuba to Florida. You were there to protect a VIP, who was being smuggled into the States.
Something goes wrong, however, when the Cubans hit the ship with some kind of chemical or viral weapon (this was years ago, mind you, so it doesn't make sense as to why the Cubans would have this) that cause the former convicts to become zombies.
So, yeah, It's not exactly impossible.

Re: Halo Movie
well... considering cargo ships are larger than any type of ship besides an aircraft carrier.... and aircraft carriers are the most important tactical ships in the navy and would NEVER be used to carry a load of dead bodies... I assumed it was a cargo ship
any SMALLER class of ship would mean the movie would be even SHORTER

Re: Halo Movie
AT the time, I was thinking a cruise ship, for the simple reason that it was more elaborate.
Keep in mind, this was years ago, and I wasn't giving it much serious thought.
And how would having to shoot through a confined space filled to the brim with zombies be a short game?
Dead Rising made it work with a mall, and I think the same concept could work for a large, maximum security prison.

Re: Halo Movie
Well PiE, it would be over quickly because in the confined interior of a ship hundreds of zombies shambling towards you would have no where to go and be quickly over run. The only way it worked in Resident Evil: Dead Aim is that the ship was nearly empty.
