Halo: Reach - Page 21 Empty Re: Halo: Reach

Post by Rotaretilbo Thu Feb 18, 2010 8:26 pm

TNine wrote:Source? Last time i checked, it was two to three weeks.

Time stamps in Halo: The Fall of Reach pages 246, 282, 292, and 335, respectively.

TNine wrote:Source? On Halopedia, it actually says 2542, and i knew it was in design and production for a while.

Time stamp is in Halo: The Fall of Reach page 229. Confirmation to release Mk.V is on page 232.

TNine wrote:Cortana was built excusively for use by the Spartan IIs in their mission.

Which has nothing to do with the time by which Mk.V was completed.

TNine wrote:If anything, the fact that only her Spartans could use them would make her even less cautious. Also, they don't need to find full suits, just a helmet here, a sheild generator there, hacking and making two orders come in and taking one before she notices, etc. The only thing that is ridiculous is the fact that they continued to be able to come up with replacements, but they could have had plenty of parts and have to create their own part occasionally (by hacking it from Halsley's computer).

Considering that Halsey likely personally oversaw the construction of these suits, and that the need for them to be anywhere but where she intended would be extremely suspicious, and that Halsey isn't dipshit retarded like Emile is supposed to be, I don't think that's as probably as you say. I would also note that around the time the Mk.V was being made, Cortana was on Halsey's computer. Good luck hacking it.

TNine wrote:She points out what Spartans were actually MIA. Couldn't the army have faked Jorge's death? For that matter, why did she consider Kurt MIA?

Interesting question: did you actually read that whole section? Because I've already answered these questions. Halsey considers any Spartan whose body she does not personally confirm as being MIA. This is observed with both Kurt and Sheila, the latter of whom Halsey personally saw die, but whose body she could not recover. Unless they managed to make a flash clone of Jorge that was so perfect that it could fool Halsey, and then decided to kill this amazingly capable super soldier just to get the original, they could not get Jorge without Halsey knowing.

TNine wrote:Source? They use stealth when it is neccasary, but they aren't exclusively stealth.

Hmm, I can't find it.

TNine wrote:Also, we don't know about all of the UNSC planets, and Mark V was not built exclusively for Reach. Additionally, we will most likely see some snow enviorenments, as the need to keep the campaign varied for MP.

If they have multiple colors because green isn't camouflage-y enough, why would they pick colors that are so bright and completely useless in most situations. I mean, blue and bright orange/red?

TNine wrote:Several people aware of Noble team don't want Emile to continue until he goes under psychiatric help.

Which is ironic, because Bungie denotes Emile as being extremely detail oriented, an effective member of the unit, and one who maintains strict discipline, even off the field. Ironic that an extremely detail oriented person who is considered very efficient and who maintains strict discipline would [u]deface his fucking helmet to the point of his vision being severely impaired[u].

TNine wrote:Beyond that, Bungie wants to make a good story and as such wanted to build as much wiggle room as possible.

They already had wiggle room! And wiggle room is used such that you don't break canon later. Breaking canon to create wiggle room is ridiculous and pointless!

TNine wrote:They wanted unique characters that had survied by staying together. Spartan IIs lack the former and Gamma company lacked the latter.

Considering how we know next to nothing about 80% of the Spartan-IIs, they certainly are unique, and if they wanted unique but different from Spartan-IIs, they wouldn't have put them in MJOLNIR armor. Further, Gamma S-IIIs have been together for quite a while. Maybe not as long as Alpha S-IIIs, but nonetheless. And further, if they want to create this bond of survival, why throw in the Lone Wolf, who is totally alienated from their group.

TNine wrote:If anything, i am hopeful for this, it means Bungie didn't have to sacrifice anything in order to make a plot.

Except the entirety of their universe, as defined in the books (and last time I checked, that's about 95% of their universe right there, because the game's stories cover very little content within the universe).

TNine wrote:This is actually the same reason Bungie wanted to leave Halo, it was too developed and constricted.

Too constricting? Do you realize how much untouched potential there is!? There hasn't been a game to show anything that occurs between 2525 and 2552, and the books only touch on an extremely limited few instances therein! The only thing constricting is if they want to keep making stories that are all set in the second half of 2552!

TNine wrote:lol. But more seriously, a canon infringement here or there isn't going to make or break the Haloverse, but another horrible campaign would.

But this isn't a canon infringement here or there. They're throwing out the books! They've come out and basically told the hardcore fans to fuck off! What more do you need?!

TNine wrote:Already explained. Bungie wants to make their own story, and a good one at that. Do you want to have another campaign like Halo 3, where Bungie could do almost nothing to make it interesting?

ARE YOU READING WHAT I'M SAYING!? I've suggested a very simple setting change which involves retaining the entire plot, the personalities of the characters (except Emile isn't a dipshit), the weapons, the vehicles, everything but the basis of the characters. They are otherwise almost completely unrestricted in what they do. All they have to do is not fuck up, but it's too late, because they already did.

TNine wrote:I was more going the point that preserving one or two things isn't going to matter shit, and so far Bungie can do little to fuck up Halo even a fraction of what M$ did, or what (shivers) E$ did.

What the ex-Bungie employees at 343 Studios have done to Halo far exceeds what the late Ensemble Studios could ever accomplish.

-Biting out the throat (remove helmet first, get achievement for success)
-Grabbing a Jackal shield and twisting it's arm off before using it for yourself. And then remove the disembodied forearm later.
-Grabbing a Jackal shield and using it to shield your own body while your mate pumps a full mag o' dakka into its body.

Emile takes of his helmet and you slam it over the Elites head, then laugh as it stumbles around unable to see anything.

No no. Removing the helmet will decrease his badassness. Instead, he'll just make the elite turn around, look into the helmet and the elite will die from too much direct contact from such badassness.

AoE 2 was amazing, but AoE 3 wasn't bad. It had a really cool story for an RTS; the ending gave me goosebumps the first time I played it.

AoE went downhill after Asian Dynasties, where the whole "build wonders to advance" thing just got me pissed at the asian factions.
