Well, it is tragic.

But as cold and heartless as the anon was, this situation COULD have gotten worse. We have a desperate person whose sexual urges have to be physically let out, but who is unable to find a companion. Ergo, he has to resort to actions that he has to hide from his family, indeed everyone he knows.

This usually is let out by masturbation, but a rather disturbing, more invasive procedure was used.
If he did not seek help, would he have become a predator? I don't know, none of us know, but it seems likely.
Would he have sought help without the anon? I don't know, none of us know, and we'd have to see his responses to the replies he got in order to find out.

I hope he can piece his life back together. And I'm glad it didn't turn out worse.

That's a good point. But from the way he said it it sounded like he didn't think what he was doing was wrong, found out that it was, and therefore decided to stop.
