Choice of Weapon(handgun[real handgun not gaming])

Ok guys so some of you know I'm 21 already and now that I can get my gun carry permit I need to get myself a handgun. I am preferably aiming for a .40 for my job but also to carry around at leisure. nothing expensive of course but In a $500 or less price range. I have been to alot of sites that actually sell $900 guns for close to or less than $500 so price is less of a factor but needing a good reliable one is what I am aiming for.

Any preferences? can be a different caliber as well, just nothing crazy like a .50 D Eagle the size of an MP5 that can blast a crater the size of a grapefruit in someone crazy.

I've heard a lot about Glocks and Taurus' and Sig's so with that what are your guys thoughts to which?

Glocks are always a safe way to go and Berettas are nice. Buying online is cheaper but you should probably go to a store and handle the guns before you buy to see if you like em. Don't want to buy a $500 dollar gun just to find out that it's not comfortable fitting in your hand.



Also do you know the whole process for buying online weapons? Them shipping it to a licensed gun shop then doing paperwork their and what not.

yea I've been told. sounds like a bunch of BS but when it's cheaper to buy online than directly from a shop.. I can deal with it.

Well it's better than any random psycho buying assault rifles on the internet so a bit of paper work aint so bad

I usually recommend a .22 for a starter gun, but if you're looking for protection on the job, get something chambered for 9mm or .45 ACP. The ammo is cheap, so you can afford to practice with it.

I'll recommend Taurus: They're cheaper, and I've heard pretty good things about them.

i carry a smith and weisson m&p 40 with the barrel changed to a .357sig

Glock 19 9mm.

.40s are for people with small dicks.

modified weapons are more prone to malfunctions

1911s will never be there for you when you need them

.45 is just too little ammo for no benefit.

DRT should be your carry ammo. FMJ is for shooting paper. DRT is for shooting people.

mine is not modified at all. its a drop in barrel made by smith & wesson. so my 40 m&p frame is now allowed to shoot .357sig rounds, 9mm rounds or 40 rounds depending on the barrel i have in it at the time. also allows you to use most kinds of ammo you find just by taking 1 minute to swap a barrel

A scam.

Whenever you hear about lightweight high-velocity ammo providing drastically superior performance, that's your cue to set your BS-ometer to maximum sensitivity. DRT ammo, like RBCD before it,. You get large, shallow wounds that don't do much to immediately stop an attacker.

I will say that DRT is more honest in that there actually is something special about DRT ammo. It penetrates body armor rather well (generally what lightweight high-velocity bullets do) but for people who aren't worried about body armor, conventional bullets work better.

I'd go with jacketed hollow-points in a carry gun.

And, contrary to NT's assertion, 1911s are pretty nice guns if you're the right size and have a good holster.

i reload all of my own ammo, way cheaper and more consistant than buying it
