Cortana isn't even the same color in Halo CE when on the bridge of the POA and the Control Room, so it's a matter of where she's visually displayed. Plus, she can change her color at whim (her eyes change color in the Control Room), it wouldn't really be a big deal if she was a scrolling rainbow, it would be stupid, but it wouldn't be completely unrealistic as say, actual physical things, changing color, for no apparent reason.

So can Elite make his armor change color when he wants to? What about a spaceship? Marines too?

It wasn't really ever about Cortana, apparently if she changes colors on different platforms on different ships and installations, then it makes sense for the physical aliens to change their entire color palate too...

Were Elites ever Purple? Last i checked, they were gray-blue (the Minors, of course).

The question you have to ask yourself is this: what possible gain is there in changing a fundamental aspect of an alien race as iconic as a color it uses obsessively? Given that there is no gain, we must ask "then why d it?" Why do something you know will piss off the hardcore fans if it doesn't have any benefit whatsoever in any way, shape, or form?

Sorry, but this has got to be the stupidest argument ever to reach these forums.

1. I didn't come to TCF becuase i dont like halowars.

2. In my Opinion i dont like halowars becuase its too simple for my tastes, i like RTS's with base building, Good balanceing, And more reliance on strategy and unit management. I dont like digital rock paper scissors, i can go on a long winded rant on why i dont think the game was worth 60 dollars and nitpick every, little, detail. But i'm not one to do that.

Someone here doesn't get what we're talking about? An argument over whether or not it's OK for the developers to go back and retcon their predecessors work, highly iconic imagery used in another companies flagship product (when you think Covenant, what are the first 5 things to come to mind? If you didn't say Purple, you fail Halo), for no reason at all other then the sake of changing it for no reason at all because they can.


NT, this is for the Halo CE anniversary, and that not many people seem to care a whole lot if they change things around for no reason, preserving the integrity and such.

Most of the Covies colors struck me as Bluish more than Purple. The ghost is purple, but the Wraith and the Phantom, as well as all the group troops, are most definitely blue or other colors. The inside of the ships were the same bluish purple, a little purpler than the wraiths.

Besides, the aesthetics of Halo switch every game, always has.

For the most part, the color palate for the Covenant had not been intentionally changed, as it made no sense and didn't add anything to the game in doing so, however the lighting and different engines may have made them appear with a different hue.

It's still a matter of changing things around for no reason for the sake of changing them around for no reason, nothing is to be gained from this alteration, and congruity is lost. Aesthetics as with making a higher detail Mjolnir armor is fine (between Halo 2 and 3), because they didn't drastically change the design for no reason while upping the amounts of detail, however the same cannot be said for the Covenant Elite from Halo 1-3 to Reach, as they upped the detail while changing the design for no reason.

So when you think of Covenant, what are the first 5 things that come to mind?

Zealots

Fanatics

Prophet

Brute

Elites

Wraiths, ghosts, banshees, Elites, Prophets. BUT LET'S TALK ABOUT COLORS!!!

Or, you know, wait for actual videos of the game to see if a slight loss of focus on purple really destroys the entire game...

Who said anything about one thing destroying the game? This has always been about and always will be about an acumen of small defects slowly but surely ruining the franchise. They did say they were removing purple, so...

It was his line of logic. He wrote the first Covenant thing in his head, Zealot, and what is a Zealot? (in the real world). A fanatic.

From what i can see.

It's still hard to believe you think of 'Zealot' before, alien, grunt, plasma, elite, sticky, banshee, ghost, wraith, CCS, Jackal, shield, oh and purple.

Well, when you think of Halo CE Covenant, what do you think of?

Aren't Covenant the classic purple aliens?

We have to argue over Lp's thought process now, naturally. Apparently its his thought process is wrong now. Wow just wow.

Well you said "Covenant" I thought about them as a group of aliens together and are all Zealots.


Zealots go down to Fanatics


The fanatics follow the prophets.


Prophets are a type of unit and so are the brutes who followed them


Brutes were units and as tough as Elites.

My guess is that since the graphics have changed drasticly, the colours will change slightly too.
