The next step in Human Evolution
I dont feel like explaining this so anyone who was there for the conversation can go ahead and get this rolling, lol.
Its an interesting topic, regardless of your religious views and your beliefs

Re: The next step in Human Evolution
well, since natural selection doesn't have the opportunity to do it's job, evolution's kinda going both ways right now. We've got freaks like Lance Armstrong whose legs barely produce any lactate and a heart 1.5X the average. But on the flip side, we have way more genetic diseases than ever before.
Personally, I think humanity's in for something completely unexpected. It's not going to be something from that TV show Heroes, but it's gonna be whack.

I have a feeling this is just going to die, but I don't know the "next step". We can change ourselves, not yet, although we will have the technology.

I'll help out. Basically a part of the conversation was that the next step in human evolution was to combine human and animal genes.
The subject that brought this up was something along the lines of furries/nekos/anthros/whatever.
While ANOTHER part was that humans as we are now, are already at the top of the "ladder".

Re: The next step in Human Evolution
I will end human life if the next evolution is anthro or anything along the lines of furry.
I shit you not, I will commit genocide of all the furry bastards and erase their genetics and DNA off the face of the universe.

Do you COMPLETELY fail to see any benefit in the genetics of animals? Some of it could be helpful

Re: The next step in Human Evolution
Do you COMPLETELY fail to see that Humans are a unique race that benifits off of being strictly human? While getting the genetic ability to regenerate sounds "cool" I would not be for it if it changes humans as a whole, say, changing physical appearence. If the cost of haming animal benificiary genetics is a total bestial transformation, that it in my eyes not worth it.
The day I become a bi-pedal horse is the day I also kill myself/destroy all furry life.

Becoming an 'Anthro' would not be the cost of it, that is just an extreme example

the next step is the death of the Male gender and women evolving to not need men to reproduce.

But seriously, if they start mutating humans, society is going to go from bad to worse. It'll create so much controversy, that'd probably start another world war.

It WOULD however set us on track for SC @ Skita's Comment
And I admit, I completely forgot about those lizards. But lol if that happened.

Nope.Ascendant Justice wrote:The subject that brought this up was something along the lines of furries/nekos/anthros/whatever.

Humans are no more evolved than any other creature. We are quite suited to our environment, as other animals are well adapted to theirs.
And I WILL be supplying this guy with the Zyklon B. Just giving you all a fair warning.Gauz wrote:I will end human life if the next evolution is anthro or anything along the lines of furry.

Ocular benefits, faster nerve conduction velocity, skin that doesn't sunburn, and regenerating digits, yes.Kasrkin Seath wrote:LolGauz wrote:I will end human life if the next evolution is anthro or anything along the lines of furry.

Cat ears, multiple rows of breasts, fur...
Hell no.
In any case, the future of Humanity is going to lie in implants, either biological or cybernetic.
Of course, NT immediately thought of a completely different kind of implant.
However, cybernetic implants for computer interfacing, better eyesight, and increased stamina are probably what's next.

I'll settle for electronic corneas that can zoom in on objects and eliminate my need for contacts.

Considering that the average person has grown over a foot in the last 150 years I don't think that will happen anytime soon.Death no more wrote:We are going to become hobbits......Skita1 wrote:

Re: The next step in Human Evolution
I think technology will augment us physically before induced genetics will anyways.
Kinda like the afore mentioned article. A prof. at Washington U. is building contact lenses with LED displays, body sensors, and a tiny radio transmitter, that would be able to give you a Terminator-esque view of the world. They're not quite there yet, but it's getting close.
