Disney now owns Lucasfilm

So, Disney now owns all it's characters, all Marvel's characters and all of the Star Wars Characters.

Star Wars is a very burnt franchise and it certainly doesn't need more movies. Frankly, I think the best thing it can do is die quietly.

However... Disney does have an applaudable film history; Marvel and Pixar alone are known to have many of the best movies from the past decade or two. And... George Lucas was definitely dragging Star Wars down.

It was a franchise we were all fond of at some point and Disney might do some good for it... but I just can't be excited for it. It's a franchise I've long given up on and, like I said, a quiet, peaceful death is the highest of hopes I can give it.









Well... that is, unless Republic Commandos 2 or Battlefront 3 come out anytime soon.

I want to say i have a bad feeling about this but Marvel has been doing good lately.

I, for one, am worried.
I can't help but fear that the artistic integrity and handcrafted beauty of the Star Wars universe is going to be sold out for crass commercialism.

I would watch the shit out of that first one.

It seems they want to continue the story of Luke Skywalker, Leia and Han Solo and such. The problem is the original cast is way to old now, the only way I think they could do it is have them voice CGI versions of them.

Also, they'd probably piss off a lot of fans, given how much EU books have been written about the period. Like a film all about the Admiral Thrawn trilogy would be great, but they could easily wipe al that stuff away.

At the good thing is ILM and Pixar will finally be reunited and make them even more powerful than you could possibly imagine.

All the stuff around that time was pretty cool. The War against Exar Kun and Ulic Qel Droma would make for a pretty good movie.

Exar Kun and Ulic Qel Droma would be awesome as well as the Old Republic tales following Zayne Carrick.

If I remember right that shows Revan and Malak back when they were still Jedi Knights trying to gather aid to fight against the Mandalorians. Be awesome as fuck to see those two before they turned and only the gamer fans will realize who they really are. You can see them turn against the Jedi teaching as well.

Set up for the next movie following Revan and Malak if they wanted.

One rumor i heard is that the new ones would focus on the old republic.

sounded to good to be true in all honesty even though it made sense.

All I've heard points to it being a follow up to what happened after Return of the Jedi.

Which why I voiced my concerns about that. But I'm sure the fan concerns over the validity of the EU is going to highly debated for the next 3 years.

I doubt they even know what it will be at this point. They still haven't found a director or script writers i'm sure.

Well if they've already planned out Avengers 2 and the Justice League movie which are scheduled to be released the same year, I'm sure they've got some ideas.

They have ideas but it's probably just a bunch of guys in a room sitting at a conference table pitching ideas. Nothing real.

Need a script writer and director to make a real movie. So far they just have conceptions.

I would not listen to any rumors until a director is announced, and even then I wouldn't seriously listen till mid to end 2013.

Maybe Timothy Zahn to write and Joss Wheadon to direct? (I know both are highly unlikely but still would be an awesome combination.)

Weren't the books surrounding the EU right after Episode VI like really convoluted and not well received? Something about the Emperor having clones and trying to possess Leia's baby?

Pretty much yeah. Is why I never saw why people really liked the New Republic. Old Republic is where it's at.

I think that Joss Whedon, while amazing, would not be appropriate for Star Wars. Star Wars isn't Firefly.
