Why would they have mechs on a peace-keeping vessel, though?
My thinking would be for construction and maintenance purposes.
But then again why would there be a shit ton of military personal on this non-military vessel.

Well it is a military vessel because it's a UNSC ship. Also, that mech seems to have guns on its arms

But it wasn't supposed to be used for war. The guy says it's the first non-military vessel made in a decade.
It's my speculation only, don't know if that's what it really is.

Actually, no.Arty wrote:The first MJOLNIR prototypes were basically mechs. The only reason the UNSC didn't use them was because they didn't have an efficient power source. After Trevelyan, they would undoubtedly have solved that problem.
So yeah, mechs make sense.
There was a decent illustration of the earlier MJOLNIR in Halsey's Journal, and it was clearly power armor.
And no, Felix, he said "Generation".

No matter what you call it, the UNSC could have easily made it.

I seem to be confused as by what you mean by that.

Re: Halo 4 E3
I imagine a colony ship would probably need some heavy-lifting gear, which is the precise reason given for the Cyclops' existence in Halo Wars. A lack of military-grade vehicles on a colony ship would also explain their need to resort to arming the mechs. Elephants and warthogs only go so far.
Re: Halo 4 E3
It's not a colony ship though. It's the UNSC Infinity. There are Spartan IVs on board. Spartans are the only military assets you need
Since it's the Infinity, you can imagine that there will be a lot of prototypes and special equipment in the ship.

Re: Halo 4 E3
True. Still, I'm sure the appearance of Spartans is only for additional, practical security as apposed to sending an army
Re: Halo 4 E3
Sigh.Arty wrote:No matter what you call it, the UNSC could have easily made it.
There are very clear, very distinct differences between power armor and mecha.
And yeah, the UNSC could probably have made it. Doesn't mean that it would make sense to deploy on a battlefield. Hell, it barely makes sense as a forklift.

Re: Halo 4 E3
Way to be argumentative. It was supposed to be a joke.
Since you took it seriously, name one instance where tanks, infantry, or even warships took down a fleet of 500 Covenant ships.
Edit* I'm just assuming the Spartan IVs are on board, since its the Infinity. They have concept art of the MC with Spartan IVs, but that's not really solid evidence that they'd be in the campaign.

Re: Halo 4 E3
I dont know how I feel about the new enemies, when the one opened up its faceplate and a glowing human-like skull was inside I cringed because of howcliched it was.
other than the new enemies, and the fact that all the forerunner weapons so far just seem like re-skinned weapons from previous games I think the game shows a lot of promise, I might actually buy it. Also I LOVE the new design of the elephant, 150% better. it had better be in multiplayer since that was one of my favorite things about playing in halo 3, was fighting over the things

Re: Halo 4 E3
The whole part with getting thrown back by the first enemy looked like Metroid Prime so much.
Even the enemy looks like a space pirate.

Re: Halo 4 E3
thats what I meant by cliched, nothing about the new enemies looks or feels unique. also forerunner weapons not being beams is weird since nearly all of their weapons shown thus far have been beams

Maybe they worked with different designs and mechanics after the firing of the halos?

Re: Halo 4 E3
True, these guys have had about 50 thousand years or however long to get new weaponry.
But if Cortana recognizes them then that means they were around on the dead worlds.

Re: Halo 4 E3
Well, there were different classes of Forerunners. The Builders were in charge of constructing the Halo Array. Maybe there technology was more advanced than the Prometheans.
Btw, I'm getting all this info from the Halo site.

Re: Halo 4 E3
I'm hesitant after all that footage.
The new Hud and graphical style remind me of Crysis for some reason.
I'm glad that the enemy design and combat style of the new enemies is completely unrecognisable to the Covenant as if they had been reskinned Elites/Brutes It would of confirmed my fears completely.
Some of the new stuff seems odd, and given how little we know about the story still, I'm still uncertain until I see more.

Re: Halo 4 E3
Reluctantly, I have to admit I did like what they did with the fight between MC and the floating A.I. thingy, and the other not floating one.
You know, the floating one acting as support shielding and redirecting your 'nade (while at the same time shooting I guess) and the other one derpin and shooting lasers.

Glasslands. It's actually a good book, people just think that Traviss is bashing Halsey, when in fact she is not, she's making you hate people for bashing her.Lord Pheonix wrote:What says there are Spartan IV's on board?

At the very end they start talking about Infinity and all the shit. And I believe Parangosky or the failed Spartan lady starts talking about S-IV. On the Infinity. Plus, the new updates from bs angel and Frankie have been talking about it.Lord Pheonix wrote:Glasslands said there are Spartan IV's aboard this very ship?
