Futuristic Weapons
I'm looking for some ideas for weapons that I could use in the Tactical Advantage story. That's it.
Name: R850 Volt
Function: The Volt is a fully automatic rifle that fires electrified rounds, composed primarily of iron. A socket on the left side of the weapon allows for a fairly large sized battery to be affixed, and the clip is placed at the rear of the gun and is not only attached at the top, but also at the front, where the handle and trigger are. This allows for it to make efficient use of it's moderately short barrel. It also has a secondary function just under the end of the barrel which acts as a taser, but is non-lethal against most enemies. The electrified rounds can short-circuit many electronics and adds to the damage against organic targets.
Name: M83 Shorty
Function: Despite it's name, the Shorty is actually a fairly long rifle. It fires beams of energy instead of physical rounds and can act as a short-term EMP. The Shorty's damage is minimal, but its perfect accuracy and medium rate of fire can take advantage of the confusion caused by the EMP.
Name: Paller 76G
Function: The Paller is a double-barreled sniper rifle, align vertically. The top barrel fires standard, 50 cal anti-infantry rounds with unmatched precision and silence. The bottom fires a five-inch, explosive, armor-piercing round, suitable for attacking lightly armored vehicles. The four-foot rifle comes standard with a bi-pod and is most effective when at rest on a horizontal surface, though can be used while standing if the soldier has the proper equipment.
Name: T30 Rask
Function:A laser illuminates a target and then pulses, heating up the air it passes through until it's a plasma (takes less than a millisecond). Electricity is then "dumped" right into the plasma. As it is superconducting, the electricity travels along the line of plasma into the target. If you can hit it with a (real life) shotgun, you can hit it with this. Damage is citical against organic targets, but has little effect on vehicles.

Well if we have them then they aren't futuristic now are they.
They are just...................weapons.

LAZZZERRRR GUNZZZ
that shoot lasers!
and electrocute people
and shoot flaming rounds!
slugs that poison!
cutting beams
tracking bullets
wave motion cannons
wide-area lasers that hit multiple targets at once
IFF sensitive damage

Sound cannons are always fun.
Also, lighting.

Re: Futuristic Weapons
I think u should add a sniper rifle that fires explosive rounds with a medium sized barrel and clip. It can swap out thermal scopes, night vision, and normal scope with ease. It should also use anti armor rounds to hit vehicles with.

Re: Futuristic Weapons
Wait, a five-inch round? That's five inches LONG, right?
OK, here's some actual tech that WORKS:
A laser illuminates a target and then pulses, heating up the air it passes through until it's a plasma (Takes less than a millisecond).
Electricity is then "Dumped" right into the plasma. As it is superconducting, the electricity travels along the line of plasma into the target.
Range: If you can hit it with a shotgun, you can hit it with this. I mean a real-life shotgun.
Damage: You're pumping tens of thousands of kilowatts through a tank. What's going to happen?

lol, that'd be one thick bullet. You see now why I want some other ideas, not just my own.Rasq'uire'laskar wrote:Wait, a five-inch round? That's five inches LONG, right?

So you basically just described an overcharged plasma pistol?Rasq'uire'laskar wrote:A laser illuminates a target and then pulses, heating up the air it passes through until it's a plasma (Takes less than a millisecond).

Re: Futuristic Weapons
Well... yeah...
Except it's the size of an RPG... And would probably be a little more permanent... Not to mention the fact that it would kill whoever it hit.

Re: Futuristic Weapons
nothing is going to happen to the tank if it is grounded... which most, if not all, vehicles are... especially military vehicles
an electricity weapon would work against personell... not against vehicles, as even civilian vehicles can survive a lightning strike and keep on driving

Re: Futuristic Weapons
I was going to go with kinetic rounds, like the ones in Mass Effect for my story.
That or good old fashioned Bullets.

I think that until someone invents some kind of shield, projectiles are gonna be the best main weapons for quite some time

Re: Futuristic Weapons
How about an EMP? Attatch a device that emits EMP to a rocket, and presto, you got an EMP cannon.

Re: Futuristic Weapons
Alot of Military Hardware is EM Shielded, to enough extent that you would need a pretty powerfull EMP to knock it out.
Not sure how sound electrified bullets are unless you loaded a fast-release capacitor of some sort in it, in which case it could be very deadly with a high enough charge

Re: Futuristic Weapons
Okay, time for some equal-and-opposite reaction stuff.
R4R "FSION"
A quadruple-barreled rocket launcher that fires groups of clustering burst missiles. When one barrel fires, the recoil spins up the next and fires, and you can fire all 16 mini, heat-seeking missiles nearly at once. Of course, this function can be switched off.
