It's bad news because it means that the Halo movie might actually happen...
but he is a great director.

Which Indiana Jones are we talkin' about here? Cause in my opinion, The Last Crusade was the only epic one.

Re: Friends, Gather Around.
Yeah he did...
I mainly just don't like the script for Krystal Skull. It's the same reason why I don't really like The Temple of Doom all that much. I like The Last Crusade because, along with being a GREAT movie, it's based on Christian mythology. Although I (obviously) don't really believe in the artifacts in the movies, they are embedded in our culture, and they are some what historical... so they seem more down to Earth. Magic stones and Ancient aliens don't seem to down to Earth. They have much more of a fantasy-type feeling to them.
Plus, Nazis are much more 'evil.' The darned communists getting a hold of some powerful artifact just doesn't seem... frightening. It seemed a bit forced.
I do, however, blame Spielberg for the over-use of CGI.

I have actually read into the crystal skulls, and surprisingly a lot of it was (at least mythologically) accurate.
The thing that annoyed me most about that film? Shia La'Bouff (or something). Damn him.
Swinging from vines. Why? Just why? Stupid CGI animals also fall into this category. I remember when Indy's humour was shooting a swordsman.
The fact they could have left the Russians well enough alone and got the exact same result.
To be fair I didn't hate it because I'm a diehard Indy fan. I can only remember Last Crusade in fact. I'm just annoyed how every new film IP is essentially 20 years old.

Basically they should of left it alone. They came back to it and got themselves stuck in a corner.
Crystal skull had Lucas' grubby hands prints all over it, with all the CGI animals and Retarded plot developments. (Hide in your refridgerator, as it you can survive a nuclear expolsion at ground zero in it, because it's lead lined.....ugh)
And of course aliens.

Re: Friends, Gather Around.
I just finished watching 'The making of the Last Crusade'
They ACTUALLY BUILT a floor with moving hydraulic sections for that final Scene. That's a perfect example of something that would be done with a blue-screen these days.

This is one of the reasons why I prefer practical effects more than CGI.

Yeah, look at Dark Knight! I mean, there was certainly a good amount of CG, but those were REAL explosions, and they actually built miniature/full scale batman vehicles.
