Re: Pirate Journals
You bought it on a loan?
One that takes you forever to pay off?
*facepalm*
Was the bike necessary? Doesn't a car work?
Oh, whatever. Your loss. Not my problem. Leaving.

Yes, and so would everyone else. That's why laws were set up. Coincidentally, what you're doing goes against those laws.KristallNacht wrote:TNine wrote: think of more ways to make some dough.

Re: Pirate Journals
I think the moral here is one that has been used as an example time and time again for children.
There is an awesome lollypop - size of your head and enough to single handedly destroy all of your teeth. Next to it is a case of smaller lollypops.
You can have one of the small ones now, and many later on - or wait a few weeks saving up pocket money to get the awesome one! Kid learns about saving, compromise, and self control and gets his teeth melted.
You, sir, are basically stealing the smaller lollypops because you think they're too small to use your pocket money on and are getting the big one anyway! It's basic stuff... think of your teeth!
Plus my uncle has probably skidded a collected kilometre on a motorcycle. But that's neither here nor there.
And if they're so ow priority then why have a myriad of sole computer developers now gone to console, and why have a bunch of pc and console swapped only to console? Latest case: Crytec (or whoever makes crysis)

You're saying you'd go without all entertainment you get from pirating rather than fork up some money or make some sacrifices elsewhere?
You place something you wouldn't even purchase over your legal obligation?

Or the guys who are developing ArmA II, who are releasing the game on PS3 because, as they say, releasing a game as a PC exclusive these days simply isn't economically feasable. Instead of paying a mere $50 to purchase the game, a large percentage of people just pirate the game instead. After all, what's the loss to them?
The problem, NT, is that you are contributing to this mess, and while you may think that Piracy is helpful, or that it doesn't make a difference in sales numbers, game publishers see things differently. When Activision sees that more PC copies of Modern Warfare were pirated than they were bought, they begin to shy away from PC development, and just move onto consoles where it's more 'safe.'
That's what YOU are contributing to. It may not have any immediate effects, but in the long term, you are fucking things up for yourself, and for the rest of us.

How would indulging on things that you don't need be harmful to the economy? Spending a bunch of money on entertainment, if anything, stimulates the economy.

Re: Pirate Journals
As you can tell from that article, the process of SHARING it is illegal. Not the act of downloading it.
Personally, if I was ever sued like that, I'd challenge the true content creators to come forth and I would dutifully pay them an appropriate amount, since the RIAA can suck my cock

Then and only then. I bet if they set up a system where all the money goes to the content creators (which is just a terrible terrible idea since we need agents and publishers and whatnot. You'd just not have a hope in hell otherwise!) you'd still rob them blind.

Re: Pirate Journals
Good. Let's assume that's average.KristallNacht wrote:TNine wrote:at least 80 or so dollars
wow you're ignorant.
It's AT LEAST the equivalent of $5000+
Now multiply you by thousands. Now you see how much damage piracy does?
The economic downturn was caused by people who wanted things they couldn't afford, and got them anyways. Most of it was fraud and overspending, but you can't deny that piracy isn't sapping the health of the entertainment industry the same way that the UAW was sucking GM's blood.
Then, how come if I go onto certain pirating websites, they give me a legal warning that downloading that file could lead to prosecution, and they are protecting my identity?KristallNacht wrote:As you can tell from that article, the process of SHARING it is illegal. Not the act of downloading it.
The reason downloaders are rarely prosecuted is because getting them is like mashing cockroaches. You get one, maybe, and the rest scurry under the fridge. And even then, you have to stomp hard to make sure it's dead. If you're fast enough to get it.
Prosecuting downloaders involves proving that they downloaded what you think they did, and you have to get EVERY ONE RIGHT.
And then you have to jump through a lot of hoops, get to them before they delete everything, and bring them to court. Usually, they do not have the money to pay all of your legal bills, so you end up losing money.
This is for EVERY SINGLE downloader. If you try to bring about a class-action suit against a thousand or so of them, your case gets thrown out because one of the people you're suing didn't download the songs you think he did.
But the music industry is the reason why the artists aren't playing acoustic instruments in nightclubs. They charge what they need to in order to make a profit after recording and distribution.KristallNacht wrote:Personally, if I was ever sued like that, I'd challenge the true content creators to come forth and I would dutifully pay them an appropriate amount, since the RIAA can suck my cock

When you spouted that 9-11 crap, proving how much the American education system has failed you, I humored you by trying to prove you wrong, only to be dismissed by a simple "Lulz, that doesn't look like a 747."
When you were talking about that Nostradamus crap, I humored you.
Throughout this thread, I've been dealing with your thinly veiled conceit, your use of stereotypes which have nothing to do with real life, and a very flawed logic system.
So return the favor and give me a decent response. Eminem and Metallica haven't killed off ALL of the neurons in your brain, so I KNOW you're capable of that small favor.
