Zune HD

'Leaked' marketing photos for a new Zune HD have hit the internets.... and boy is it beautiful.

This is brand new, so there isn't any info out on it yet. Microsoft has yet to confirm its existence, but Cnet and Engadget remark that they have spoken with industry sources who point to this being on its way to the market.

My 16GB Zune is broken, and the screen is uselessly tiny anyways, so I'll definitely be looking out for this. The only thing that might stop me from getting it is a really really nice looking PSP 2 with an Oled display, two analogue sticks, and a bigass built in flash memory stick.

Anyways, based on the lack of any but one small button, this thing is likely touch screen. It would be easy to assume that it's just an Ipod Touch rip-off, which is A-Ok in my mind. Sources say it might utilize new Nvidia portable graphics technology which allows for 720P resolution playback, which is better than the 480P resolution offered by the Ipod touch.

The apparent slimness of the device suggests that it probably uses flash memory, ala the Ipod touch, and not a physical Hard Disk like the current high end Zunes. This means it probably won't have some ridiculous amount of space, but rather more along the lines of 32-40 GB.

IT IS BEAUTIFUL!!!

...the iPOD touch and it look the same, except that there is a thing at the bottom of it.

lol, which is why this is microsoft's response (rip-off) to the Ipod touch.

I could care less if microsoft is copying apple. I refuse to buy apple products,and unless sony decides to come out with something as beautiful as this...

Mhmm...

I hate Macs, but in my experience, very little can beat their media devices. A higher-resolution video compatibility might be worth looking into, but will it have unlocked content like the original Zune claimed it would have?

Well, I'd say quite a lot of other MP3 players were better than the Ipod, but admittedly, the Ipod touch stepped things up a bit.

I'm not so sure this new Zune will have apps. I can't really see Microsoft opening up the market like that. Quite frankly though, I don't want apps. I think a lot of those Iphone applications are pretty useful, but those on the touch tend to be limited to either games or extremely obnoxious fart/gun apps. I swear, those things make me hate all Ipod touch users. Personally, I don't really EVER play portable games either. Touchscreen games would be no different.

I'm mainly hoping just for RSS support and web browsing. If they get that down, this thing is an obvious buy for me.

By "unlocked" rasq, do you mean DRM free? I thought that the Zune store was already DRM free, but maybe I'm wrong.

I gotta agree with Recon on the iPod Touch. Many apps are cool... but most of the free ones suck. The only real reason I'd get it is for internet, and with that $500 I may as well buy a small laptop.
