TCF D&D Empty TCF D&D

Post by Cheese Sun Apr 05, 2009 3:02 pm

Me and Seath were thinking of starting up a game of D&D on the forum. We'd either be playing on the chatbox or an IRC chat. You won't need anything that you can't find on a webpage and it's a pretty simple concept once you get it, but awesome fun.

Anybody interested?

No. We were talking about it in the chatbox.

We'll go over the basics on the first session and learn as we play. Me and Seath will talk about it some more and then we'll decide some times.

Good to hear such a positive response! What you can do for now is think about your characters.

And yeah, Dungeons and Dragons

I just realised, because of the time difference we're going to have to play quite late (in the UK). Will the UK lot be ok to start at about 10pm? (5pm EST)

Also, are the Americans in school on holiday for easter? If so, we can also play earlier for a while.

This should help with character creation until I can dig up, or otherwise make a player handbook.

I'm sorry that it's for Dummies... but it's the only one I could find Razz It's actually pretty good.

Here's how it can be run. We make a forum, and the DM(s) says what is going on, and we respond. During combat, when our turn comes, we have 24 hours to respond or it is assumed we're taking a full action to fight defensively and the DM(s) moves on.

That would take waaaay to long... I was thinking more along the lines of chatbox.

Yeah. Any other suggestions, Thane?

Way too long? How long were you expecting this to take? An entire campaign over the span of a few hours?

Yeah, which is why I originally thinking an IRC client.

To Rot, I was thinking it would take a few sessions sure, but if we do it through a thread then it would take half a day to kill a lone rat!

If a lone rat had five Hit Dice, maybe. I am running two campaigns and playing a third via thread, and while it takes more than a day to complete the entire campaign, it is actually rather fast paced. And, besides, the chances of getting everyone playing on at the same time is extremely low. Trust me, I've tried.

Since this is the second gayest game ever made(the first being Brokeback Mountain: The Adventures of Fudge Packer Pete(for the Wii)), I'll sit this one out.

Tell me about it... I usually just set up times and start if more than three people show up. Our campaigns were usually orientated around lengthy player discussions with NPCs or each other though. Two hours of our game would have been about 1000 posts - there must have been that many in chatbox tonight.

How about we try both then?

(the rat was an exaggeration:P)
