My friend has...or had...the first 2, and I got to see him play it a few times.
And it looked awesome Alas, my comp is to crappy to run anything with even remotly modern graphics.

Re: The Diablo Series
Diablo was made about 15 years ago. (random guess.) I have all of them but Diablo III (Not sure if it's out yet.) But still, if you can run starcraft, you can run the original Diablo(The best rpg I've EVER played. It pwns Oblivion, KOTR, Fallout 3, and Mass Effect. It's the only rpg blizzard has gotten right.)

This is the point in your post where I stopped agreeing with you.
Diablo I and II can't be compared to those games.
I've played Diablo II and all of the games you listed.
They're all better than Diablo.
The Diablo series is great, but it's most recent game is 8 years old. So obviously it can't compete with newer innovtion until Diablo III comes out.

Re: The Diablo Series
Diablo does not get anywhere near competing with other RPG's
I dont even think you can classify Diablo games as RPG's...
They are more of dungeon crawlers with a bit of story on the side.
Not to say that they are not good... they are awesome games

Re: The Diablo Series
i have to agree with seath theyre fun to play but theres no real story to em u run through the dungeons murder 1000's of monsters and kill the devil and his bro's other than that its just like every bland FPS except u see ur person from the sky and ur carrying a sword, axe or, or bow

Re: The Diablo Series
Still think it's better than the games I listed. But yeah, I cant really call it an rpg. It's still the only non-rts blizzard got right.
Re: The Diablo Series
It doesn't really pwn any of the other games either. Its a time killer game, made to eat up the extra hour or two you have every day.

Re: The Diablo Series
You see, I like this series do to the fact it's one of the few games in the genre that any good. But yeah, all the other listed games are meant to eat 5 hours of ur day everyday. Current KOTR 2 game. 4 hours, 17 minutes, STILL on the Telos Station!
Re: The Diablo Series
KoTOR II is a far cry from the first one. Story-wise anyway.

Re: The Diablo Series
>.> i have to agree diablo to is good but it can not be called an RPG maybe it was back in the day but not now as of it being better than other games i disagree with you since all you really do is goin around and kill 1000s of monsters to get these items and such but it really has only a strewn together story for no other purpose to beat the game, and then again you can do that a million times...

Re: The Diablo Series
you see, Diablo is one of the few games that ACTUALLY was done right for it's genre. Which is why I think it's better than the listed games. For there are many great rpgs. But there isnt enough epic dungeon-exploration, kill 1000s of monsters games out there.(Made it up to make a point. Dont really know what genre you'd put it in.)

*Laughs.
I have yet to play Oblivion, and I can't remember what the Diablos are like, but I have to say this.
I hate RPGs.
For one reason, all the storylines are the same.
Seriously, folks. At least 95% of all RPGs fall into this category, and an additional 4% share similar characteristics. Surely, there have been new features, like pets or powers, or First Person View or co-op, but don't look for innovation in the typical RPG.
I hear Mass Effect is better, but it is also quite different from the common RPG. After all, it's a shooter, not a turn-based combat, right?

Re: The Diablo Series
Most RPG's do fall into the kind of thing Rasq' said... I like the Elder Scrolls series(particularly Morrowind) because, while there is a main quest which is pretty typical, you dont even have to do it and can wander the world at your lesiure(sp?).
Like in Morrowind, you dont even really start the main quest at the begining, you are just told to go meet some guy, and still not really startit(he tells you to go join a guild and what-not). Really, you can just skip the main quest and look around. Shops stay static for the most part, as you level up they will stay the same, which is the same with most monsters and NPC's.
Oblivion is similar, but they made the shops and monsters level up with you, which was kind of gay. Why would a bandit be wielding the best mundane weapon and have the best mundane armor?

but that takes away all the fun of being able to kill stuff in one hit
and running faster than the wind
and being able to buy anything in the entire game but not needing to (except if something looks cool on your char) because you have the best stuff already
