This city was once great, but not anymore…. The dead walk its streets searching for the last of the living. People hide in fear of the death. There is no cure for what has happen. There is no Hope for those of us left. The darkness closes round us as the end nears, chances of survival is low. Still we fight and will continue to. I am Darwin a survivor in this hell. The Apocalypse has come and now one last struggle for humanity remains. Survive in here or face extinction.

Hmm, sounds good. But I'll wait for the first chapter to pass any real judgement.

I sat down on a chair for a breath, the horde was everywhere and even little time like this is enough to let them find you. I looked outside of the old AOL office building and saw them moving in the shadows, mindless hulks of flesh bent on killing anything struggling to survive. They were here by the thousands just in this city. The CAZO (control against zombie outbreaks) said that chances of survival were low, and it was suicide to go into an area this late in the infection process. But I couldn’t get out of here if I tried.

I had been here for weeks trapped in this hell we once called Fairfax, at first we could have made it out but now there was no chance now. The virus had begun months ago but most thought nothing of it. They appeared in third world countries and the occasional infected person in an outskirt city. No cure was ever found so they were just killed and burned. Then the big outbreak occurred, New York, D.C., London, and Tokyo all hit by it. They tried to quarantine it but it just spread, people tried to prepare with homemade remedies and ways to help resist it but it all failed. It spread and hit cities fast. Our city was one of the latest and I was new to this, but I know how to survive.

Just then someone walked in. In an instant I stood and grabbed my pistol and took aim. One important rule to survive you must be quick and always ready. Most learned this the hard way. I knew countless tales of horde coming from nowhere and killing survivors. But I was already use to this and it troubled me little

“Hey it’s me man!” yelled a familiar voice. I looked at him closely as I flashed the light on him. “Damn be careful man!” I said as I lowered my gun. There stood Richie in his Tapout shirt and his Uzi ready as always for a fight. “Well we better hurry now. Where are Dean and Jonathan?” I asked seeing he was alone.

A large shriek filled our ears as we saw the horde rushing in the office room doors. “SHIT!!!! Richie cover my ass! I need to find my gun.” I scrambled across the floor looking for my M16. Gunshots echo from Richie’s Uzi and a loud yell is heard “Fire in the hole!!!” a small metallic object flew through the door landing in the middle of the horde. An explosion shook the floor and several infected body parts flew past me from the shockwave. “Shit, watch where you throw that thing! You almost got me with the zombies.” I yelled noticing a little shrapnel in my leg. Jonathan walked in with his first aid ready “I’ll save you man!” he yelled as he patched up my leg. “Its ok man no need to over react.” I slowly got up and found my M16 next to my chair. “Sorry man I did not see you there. But looks like you did not get hurt to bad.” Dean said as he moved around the room looking for ammo.

A distance moan is heard, “We better get out of here. Dean you guys cleared the stairs?” I asked looking at the horde moving in the building. “Yea I did also me and Jonathan blocked off the lower stairs too.” He answered already moving back into the hallway. “Alright let’s move out then.” I ordered as I began running to the stairs. Claymores scattered the hallway, Dean had done a good job setting up for any zombies. If one did try to sneak up on us we would hear it.

On the roof we gathered weapons, a few pistols and a few rifles are all we had. But that never stopped us before. I looked upon my only hope of survival my teammates. Richie the big football and wrestling star and my cousin, he always seemed untouchable and it was no surprise he was a survivor. There was Dean the workaholic with that strange sense of humor, me and him were friends in the office and it was good to have him along. Then there was little Jonathan, small scared guy but he stayed in the game when the shit hit the fan. We all lost family and had to carry on through this. Such an unlikely team we were. But we were all we had left.

Top notch story.

Decent, though I find it fairly unlikely that first aid was preformed at such a speed...

he did quick aid I still have shrapnel in my leg I am just not bleeding out

I suppose that makes a bit more sence...

It did seem kind of pressed-together, though. The story I mean. It kind of just flew by.

I made it simple so it could be turned into a movie and the director will find it easy to understand

and really this is part 1 of chapter 1

there are 5 parts per chapter

I realize that, I'm just saying it's kind, I want to say fast-paced, but it should be because it's a survive-the-zombie-outbreak story...

Do you see where I'm going with this?
