I was in school today, after finishing portal last night, and I thought up a few gametypes for multiplayer on Portal. Feel free to comment or add to this.

Race
This is pretty straight-forward. Just race through a course to the end and get the cake! You have three lives (this can be changed), but you have to start at the beginning of the chamber each time you die in and you have to wait 30 seconds to respawn. If you run out of lives, you loose.

Tag Team
This is exactly like Race with one exception, you have to work with a partner (or team) to finish.

Bridge to Nowhere
In this game, your goal is to get to the end, much like in Race. The difference is that the whole level is built like the 19th chamber, where you are on the bridge and unable to stop moving. Your only hope to survive to the end is to think on your feet and not let your guard down. To win, simply get to the end without dying. If multiple people get to the end on the same bridge (parallel bridges, since they are technically in two different, identical courses), it’s a tie. You have three lives (this can be changed), but you have to start at the beginning each time you die and you have to wait 30 seconds to respawn. If you run out of lives, you loose.

Sinking Feeling
In this game, you start at the bottom of a very, very, very tall room on a small platform. Water begins to poor into the room from the floor and you have to be the first to escape to the top of the room through a very complex, vertical course. At the top you will find a way out. If you die, you loose (this can be changed).

Capture
In this game, your goal is to capture as many special storage cubes as you can, and put them in a certain room (or incinerate them), going through increasingly complex courses to get to the cubes. Another way you could play this is to have 5 or 6 buttons that need to be pressed to open a door to the cake and you have to get the heavy storage cubes (regular ones don’t activate the buttons) in the same manner as before. You have three lives (this can be changed), but you have to start at the beginning each time you die in and you have to wait 30 seconds to respawn. If you run out of lives, you loose.

Are you still here?
Your goal in this game is to knock down as many turrets as you can before time runs out (or knock down a certain amount first). If you die, you loose (this can be changed).

CTF
Each team starts with a flag, cube, cake, or some other object that is sacred to the Portal universe. You must capture the other team’s flag (special object) without loosing yours. You may have to go past many obstacles to get there or through some sort of course. You could use things like turrets and ect to stop the other team. You have unlimited lives (this can be changed), and respawn points are seemingly random, not near your base, but far from the enemy’s base. You loose if the other team gets your flag to their base.

there is already a portal multiplayer but its not very good and its in beta
