Life Update
So, as time ticks onward, this place remains forever =D
So here's an update on my life.
Back in July of last year, I got out of the Marine Corps after 69 months of service (hue) at the still young age of 24. Not sure when I last made any updates, but during my training to attend Assessment and Selection to become a critical skills operator for the Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC) I destroyed a large part of my tibia and knee, and had to have multiple surgeries and months and months and months of physical therapy to be able to go on a light jog, let alone do all the things necessary of an Operator. So with that, I got out. For losing my dreams I get a cool $133 a month for service related disability. Hopefully, by the time I'm old, I can convince them my knee problems turned into back problems (which they probably will) making me more disabled, so I can stack Social Security, Disability, and my own retirement together.
Anyway, right now I'm attending community college in Northern California on my education benefits, making me a full time student. I'm an executive officer with my schools Student Senate (like student council) and that gets me cool stuff like an office and staff parking. College becomes really pleasant when you have a nice place to do stuff, easy parking, and priority registration from military service.
On the side, and what I'm more adamant about, I produce a podcast focused on anime that is pretty sweet and doing pretty well (though it could always be better) that you can check out at http://animesummit.net tell your friends. We have some dreams to expand it into more and more kinds of content, and I may even be starting work on an anime inspired video game. All self taught, cause school is useless for teaching people things.
I also am still traveling a bit. I went to Panama for last Thanksgiving, and have some plans to hit Columbia or Japan this summer, and Thailand in the fall for the lantern festival. I'm going to drop out of school after meeting transfer requirements in 2017 and spend 12 months traveling the world (whether I can afford it or not).
The overall dream is to start a successful business (or maybe just be a good employee) that allows me to travel while working online.
As someone mentioned in another thread, I am a registered EMT, but not practicing. That was mainly done for personal development. If I suddenly end up on scene at a disaster, I want to be able to help the injured.
Anyway, enough about me....what about you?

Re: Life Update
Dang... that sucks about your leg. Sorry to hear that and I hope you continue recovering.
Interesting that you're doing a podcast. I've been listening to a lot of Cooptional and Cox 'n Crendor while working. I might have to give yours a listen as well.
Not a lot going on with me in comparison.

I do love a good animu podcast, I'll have to check you guys out. Any genres in particular or just the broad spectrum on anime/new releases?
As for my life, I've been out of school and got a full time job with a small company. Things didn't work out and left and started working at Dunkin Doughnuts. Now I've been offered a full time position as a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual and still deciding if I want to take the new career, or go back to school for a full degree in Business and Management.
Also been playing a lot of steam games as of late(Duck game, rocket league, Xcom 2) and always down for a few games of anything. Especially Civ 5.

Re: Life Update
No shit huh? I'm sorry to hear about your injury, but if you take care of it hopefully it will improve over time. I myself am going to a Raider battalion, however I'm just going as an 8071 Special Operations Capabilities Specialist for now. I figure I'll spend some time playing operator, and if I like it enough to stay in, I'll go for A/S. Any tips on preparation? Even as an 8071 I go through a good chunk of the MARSOC training pipeline and SERE.
As for everything else going on in my life, I fell in love with a lovely, talented hippie some time ago and I have trouble thinking about about much else. Couldn't be happier.

Re: Life Update
good to hear from you NT, its been forever, we were wondering what you've been up to. sad to hear about your injury, but you were always one of the best of us and I am sure you will make the best out of the situation.
I lost my job as an animator due to outsourcing the show I was going to work on to canada, and since I have no desire to work in canada for shit money and taxes out my anus I've taken a full time Engineering Analyst position where I do 3d modeling and technical documentation supporting Navy NOTU and SSP. earning good money and working on my animation portfolio as well as trying to teach myself programming. Travel down to CCAFS one or 2 times a month but I work in DC most of the time.
I intend on going back to school for either a masters in Animation so I can teach (and hopefully get into a feature company where work is more steady than the TV work i've been doing for the last 4 years) or possibly go and try to get a second bachelors degree in software engineering.
NT I assume you still play some games, we should play something and catch up. I dont think i've spoken to you since you, me, and Leafy made that cringeworthy podcast like 6 years ago (same goes for you Pheonix, its been like 5 years for you)
felix I need duck game opponents, hit me up sometime and Ill play with you in a heartbeat

I was doing hikes 2 days a week with 40lb pack and full sapis (got stopped by pmo the one time I was hiking with training weapons as if being loaded down with gear miles from any real populated locations made me a danger to anyone), gym 2 hours in the morning 5 days a week, mcmap/ground fighting at lunch, then a run after work. T/th was shorter runs with full sapis, m/w was longer runs in pt gear. I was able to get some people to come along occasionally and we'd round out the run with some ground fighting.
