How/why did you choose your username
this is something I think about a lot, how online people aren't assigned names, but choose their own. I am curious why people have their names.
for me, my old username was Maluck1557 (and is the username I use for most things) which is just my first and middle initial and my last name then my house-number. Matthew A Luck - Maluck (original, yeah I know)
one day one of my friends came over and we were playing Counter Strike. I was playing on a server I played on often, and I didn't want people thinking I was sucking and getting pissed off at me, so I changed my name to KrAzY_TaCoS for that day... and I never changed it back because I thought it was funny. when I joined HWF years later I used KrAzY_ as my username (I also used it for Ogame and on other forums I used/ran) and just stayed as that... and thats that.
how/why do all of you use the name you use?

Re: How/why did you choose your username
I don't really remember but I think I tried Fenix and it didn't work then I was like "well, Pheonix is cooler"
......I may have spelt it wrong. On the plus side "Pheonix" is usually more available than "Pheonix"
*edit*
Also I may have a filter that fixes the correct way of spelling the creature to my way on the site.

Re: How/why did you choose your username
Once upon a time, I was sitting in history class in 7th grade, bored out of my mind. I don't remember what we were learning, but I was bored, and so I decided to doodle and write short stories and the like. Nothing of any substance, mind you. In my addled teenage mind, I created Bob the Bringer of Doom, and thought it would be funny if his real name was Robert Mood, because Mood is Doom backwards. Then, I thought to myself, what if I used other fun words? So I came up with Bob the Bringer of Destruction, aka Robert Noitcurtsed, Bob the Bringer of the Apocalypse, aka Robert Espylacopa, and Bob the Obliterator, aka Robert Rotaretilbo.
At about the same time, I discovered the Internet and forums. Myself and some friends had dubbed ourselves an amateur game dev company, which we called Crazy Donut Productions, and so my first username online was Crazy Donutian. However, the guys informed me that they all had unique online handles that we would use in the credits of our games in lieu of our own names, and since we were all technically Crazy Donutians, I needed a different one. While I was mulling this over, I joined another forum. As part of an agreement with my parents to be allowed to use the Internet, which was 80% predators, 19% porn, and 1% game FAQs, I was not allowed to use my real name. In order to avoid that awkward, "hey, what's your name?" "oh, I can't tell you, because you might be a predator" conversation, I just assumed a new name, Brandon Rebuga. And so that was my username at the second forum I joined.
Shortly thereafter, I decided that my unique username within Crazy Donut Productions would be one of Robert's last names. I decided that Mood was way too short and uninteresting, and being a word of its own, would probably not be understood. I also felt that Noitcurtsed was really fucking hard to pronounce. Espylacopa and Rotaretilbo both rolled off the tongue much easier. But I couldn't for the life of me remember exactly how to spell Apocalypse back then, and I figured that it would be easier to go with Rotaretilbo. Of course, the second forum I had joined did not allow username changes, so I wasn't officially Rotaretilbo until 9th grade, when I discovered the joys of Battlefield Vietnam and online multiplayer shooters in general. After that, I used Rotaretilbo for any new websites I joined. The only thing that surprises me is that most people don't realize what my username is until it's pointed out to them. Like, I never meant it to be very subtle.

Re: How/why did you choose your username
Named myself this after the covenant flagship in Halo: First Strike. Thought it was a boss name and was probably my favorite Halo novel. Another factor was that I was pumped as fuck for Halo Wars and I didnt want to name myself something gay like "HaloJohn117Spartan" or something.

I don't remember how I came up with it, just needed one to sign up for something and used it. I'm still surprised that people have trouble pronouncing it in games though.

Re: How/why did you choose your username
The Seath part:
I was on a bowling team in my younger years. At a practice session, misspelled my name as Seath. Scored 189 points average. That night I also made my XBL account and called it Seath189. The "Seath" carried over to HWF.
The Kasrkin part:
Kasrkin are a unit type for the imperial guard in 40K that I was fond of about the time I joined HWF (was playing a lot of Dawn of War: Winter Assault/Dark Crusade).
My current username for most game/online things is now Kasrkraw(cass-er-craw) because I wanted to dissociate my username from my real name further, and I like the "craw" sound.

Re: How/why did you choose your username
I've always been really interested in Russian history. Originally, my HWF name was Russian6thGuardsArmy. Why? I have no idea. I guess I probably thought it was cool at the time. Then that eventually evolved into Ruski, which stuck since it's so much smaller tham the other choice and it sounds better. This is a memory trip though, reading all of your guy's names.

Re: How/why did you choose your username
Looking back upon 13 year old me, I must have pretty much looked like a wannabe sexual predator.
Thinking I was cool, I used to go around school chanting "I'm a jumping jet come ride on me". It just sounded catchy at the time and I had no idea of the implied meaning. I was trying to be cool and edgy claiming to be a "jet plane" which was fast and awesome whilst "jumping" to mean I was a bit wacky... I know; I'm an idiot.
When it came to creating a username for HWF I didn't want to have a typical name like "Spartan1337". I was sat throwing ideas around in my head whilst subconsciously chanting my favourite chant (which by now had practically ingrained itself in my brain I had been saying it that long). I thought "JJ" sounded cool so I thought why the fuck not; JumpingJet it is
Thus I was born!
Oah, I went though of phase of being called "Night Angel" for a bit. The "Night Angel" was one of my favourite characters from a book series by Brent Weeks.
Thinking about it, I did go through a phase of changing my name on HWF to something different every single week near enough... and my signature... did we have profile pictures at the time? I can't remember, if we did I must have changed that too... wow...
Anywho - there's my story

It's Quenya, or a mix of Quenya/Sindarin, depending on how you split it. I just like Tolkien.

Re: How/why did you choose your username
Back in early middle school I started a neopets account. I wanted my first name to be in the account name but didn't want words or non-letter characters. If I remember right, "Tylertlat" was the first name I saw that satisfied those conditions, and it's unique yet identifiable/remember-able enough that I've used it ever since as my universal internet handle. Or maybe I had a reason for the tlat at the time, and I just don't remember it.

Re: How/why did you choose your username
Mine also started in middle school.
In sixth grade, I started writing PiE on all my stuff. It was just a random thing I did, and over time I came up with a specific design I liked. It was all over everything I had.
The summer before freshman year of high school, I found the HWF and I needed an account name. I went with "CPO_PiEman", and I've used some variation of PiE for most of my account and character names for everything ever since.
There were a few exceptions to that rule, usually when I didn't want someone to know it was me. Like when I made that fake GrifKilla5 account on HWF the first time I got banned. Made up a fake personality for it and everything. Even did a different IP and kept posting with it for a while after the ban ended.

Re: How/why did you choose your username
Messed up making my xbl account, thought gamertag meant password or some shit, so used my old password from elementary(asRqqX). Then I needed to shorten it cuz I hated having to explain or pronounce it, so I just used the capital letters and went for RX.
Now I guess you all know how available THAT would be for different stuff, so I needed something else, and I briefly went for KinetiK, for reasons unknown.
Still encountered it being taken in so many instances so I eventually switched it to Zelevas, which is my main username around these days, inspired by a character in the game Endless Space. So far it hasn't been taken a single time.

Re: How/why did you choose your username
first name Awsome117:
I was like 13 or 14 at the time and couldn't think of a username. So I thought "Hey Halo is awesome, and Master Chief is awesome, I should combine these!" I misspelled Awsome and just rolled with it. Thinking it was too cool.
After that I went through a bunch of stupid names (one could argue Awsome117 was a stupid name) and I ended choosing Felix (as I had just beat both Golden Sun games) and thought "Hey this is my new favorite character and I want his name!" I basically stole a name cause I was not creative enough to make a new one.
And Thus here I am.
