Age of Empries 2: HD

Yah, it's a thing. Definitely getting it.

The only problem I'm seeing is that it's $20, when it should be at most $10 imo. For those that own the game already, you can play it through game ranger and the Age of Forgotten Empires mod drastically improves the ai while adding new civs, widescreen support, and fixing the colour glitches in windows 7.

Eh, I was afraid of $30 or $40, but I think $20 is just fine considering the added server support, steam workshop, enhanced textures, and extra peripheral support.

I have a mod for the orriginal which fixes some of that, but I would definitely pay $20 to have full server and steam workshop support. I imagine the Forgotten Empires mod will make it's way onto the steam workshop along with a number of others.

Buying it.

trebuchet never make it passed the walls and archers

I know but you can use them to destroy the walls and assault the archers. If you repeat that I'm sure you can beat that stratagem.

We played AoEII online too. Hopefully we can all get it and have giant ass epic games.

You're forgetting me, tim, and I think OB did a few times as well. DMW always ended in a who managed to get the pathfinding to work properly for them, as doing stuff before 30 mins made you rage at us when we did...
Sadly, I don't think they improved the bad aoe2 pathfinding in this HD remake where it becomes very slow for units to react and move places as a group instead of a line stretching half the map when there's a lot of units.

I never raged. I accepted that I was a relatively poor player, and took enjoyment where I could find it.

And ruski in that case. If I remember correctly I played the most with Rot, Seath, and BB though. Yeah I did get upset some of the time when I didn't anticipate things early on, sorry. Most of what I do remember is actually having fun and hilarious shit.

EDIT: Everyones invited and should get this game because it's arguably one of the best RTS's ever crafted and now we can all buy it and play over steam. I anticipate the shenanigans.

So, has anyone else bought it?

It's hella fun online. A little laggy and finding a game is kind of a nuisance, but very fun once you get in one.

Problems:
> Why no resolution option?
> Corn is a bad food icon, modded the old resource icons back in to fix
> Not sure I like the new farm/flame/cliff textures, but I'll see if they grow on me
> All my cavalry units have glitchy animations while idling
> The launcher window falls apart if your text size is set to 125% in Windows

Otherwise:
> The other texture changes are great, especially the water
> Multi-monitor, 1080p, Steam workshop, and dedicated server support are very welcome additions
> Pop cap of 500 and turbo deathmatch are quite enjoyable
> Things just run more smoothly

I bought it. Seems fine, though I don't like the new fire or farms that much. Haven't tried playing it online yet, but apart from not having to deal with gameranger/voobly its pretty much just not having to use a mod for widescreen and not having to kill explorer to get rid of the colour glitches on Windows 7. That it runs in borderless fullscreen is nice as it alt tabs perfectly.

my one online game was really laggy so far, and it is a fucking pain in the ass trying to get people to cooperate and actually pick teams and start the damn game

i bought it.

Is it worth it? I never played the original.
