And what justifies dropping the price? In the end you've already built a trend of paying 'full price' for the game. Knocking it below that both reduces the overall profits of the game industry as well as begins forcibly underselling hard product retailers. Selling the digital versions cheaper will kill the idea of disc based gaming really quick, just like it pretty much has with PC games already.

Still, your argument for "drop the price" is simply "i don't like the price". Where's the real world logic?

Unfortunately, with production costs of a triple AAA game at an all time high, a new console is only going to raise out, there is a real chance that the price will go up for PS4 games.

They might be a good selling point to have them be autodownloads, but even then, Amazon could probably deliver to me on the day of release, slightly cheaper.

It makes sense for Disk games because they have to put the games on disks, ship the disks, and the game stores have to either buy the games in bulk and sell them to make a profit I imagine.

Digital PC games have none of this bullshit and yet we're still paying $60 a game and usually having to wait an extra couple of months for release. Is bullshit. Should sell us the games for $30 or $40 dollars and maybe keep it a month back to compensate for sales to encourage CD buying but for $60 and extra months it's bullshit.

It's not a AAA game, but it shows what a sale or a the addition of a commonly requested feature can do.

And LP. Bandwidth is free? Servers are free?

Seriously. I'm talking legitimate argument for why the market would adapt in the way you suggest.

I already pointed out reasons why that will not happen. Now's your turn.

Oh I know it's not going to happen because they can make a shit ton more money this current way.

They could hike the cost up to $70 dollars tomorrow and everyone would complain and say they are boycotting it but they would still buy the games and the people would eventually start just saying "well at least it's not $80 dollars"

NT's point was that selling games digitally costs money too. I just costs money for different reasons. You need to host servers with huge amounts of upload bandwidth, so gamers can install the game, and we all know Valve is taking a cut of all sales on Steam.

Sony has stated that they anticipate games on the PS4 to be priced between $5 and $60, so it's possible that they increase in price but I think the loss in sales would do more harm than good.
